Subject: Lenny Breau From: number 6 Date: 15 Jun 05 - 10:37 PM Any fans of the late Lenny Breau here? Three pieces by him really hit the emotions: Days of Wine and Roses Five O'clock Bells New York City Lenny has to be one of the most outstanding guitarists/musicians of all time. I've heard he was highly influenced by the late Bill Evans. You can certainly hear it in some of his playing. sIx |

Subject: RE: Lenny Breau From: GUEST,kendall Date: 16 Jun 05 - 09:18 AM I knew him, but not well. One of my cousins married his aunt Flo. He certainly was one of the most talented guitarists i have ever known. His brother, Denny, is a hell of a picker too. He performs with the TURKEY HOLLOW CONSORT. |

Subject: RE: Lenny Breau From: Willie-O Date: 16 Jun 05 - 12:36 PM There is a great biographical movie about Lenny, I believe it's call "The Art of Lenny Breau" which has been shown frequently on satellite TV culture channels. He was a genius guitarist who struggled with all the demons -- and was close to both Chet Atkins and Randy Bachman--he taught the Guess Who guitarist how to play! Now there's a stretch... W-O |

Subject: RE: Lenny Breau From: number 6 Date: 16 Jun 05 - 07:54 PM His tragedy .... what a waste. |

Subject: RE: Lenny Breau From: Justa Picker Date: 16 Jun 05 - 08:08 PM He was an amazing prodigy. At 15 he knew more than most successful and renowned guitarists who'd been playing for a lifetime. Chet Atkins (no slouch himself) was said to be in awe of his talent. Check out the "Boy Wonder" album sometime. Scary. Makes you just wanna put the guitar down permanently, and say "So? Would you like fries with that?" |

Subject: RE: Lenny Breau From: number 6 Date: 16 Jun 05 - 11:11 PM "Incredible talent often comes at a high price. Doesn't it?" Sad, but so true in Lenny's case. Truly appreciate the posts. I think Lenny Breau deserves some mention here at the Mudcat. sIx |
