On 6/16 annually,
The Walk is celebrated
re Leopold Bloom's Walk in 1904 in Ulysses.
According to Sheadel of r.m.f:
As the name implies, Ulysses is organized around the Greek myth the Odyssey. Homer's saga tells the story of Odysseus (Ulysses), king of Ithaca, who sails with his army to sack the city of Troy. Odysseus has some difficulty getting back home, but after ten years, and a large number of adventures, he returns to his faithful wife, Penelope, and his son, Telemachus.
Joyce takes Homer's Odyssey and twists it into the saga of a day in the life of two Dubliners, Leopold Bloom (Ulysses) and Stephen Dedalus (Telemachus). Penelope is represented by Bloom's not-so-faithful wife, Molly. Each episode in the ancient tale has a counterpart in Joyce's modern one.
