I was in Montreal on a weekend in 1974 and saw a most excellent concert at a college there that included Bruce Murdoch, Jesse Winchester, Penny Lang and a couple of other people. This thread brought back a memorable night from decades ago. Thanks Bruce.

Adrien, I feel like I know you, too. I am already looking forward to meeting you. It will be great to see Penny again, also. And of course my old friend Mike. (Maybe that should read long-time friend. I'm gettin' to the age were that seems more appropriate.) I hope you'll post about the festival, Adrien. I don't get out much anymore, and hearing about th goings on is interesting to me. If ya have the time, let us know, OK?

Hi Bruce,
Haven't been doing much on Mudcat due to Festival commitments. Then the coming down always hurts. Not feeling to bad now so decided to have a look as to what is happening on the site. I had just p.m'd. Bruce this afternoon to thank him for his c/d that arrived in the mail. Can't believe that I'm already getting pumped up for next year.
Also learned something that I was not aware of. Chris Crilly being a past(still) buddy.
Mike, thanks once again for your support and kind words you wrote me. Your support is greatly appreciated. This is not a secret, but Penny Lang will be moving to B.C. in September. However, she has every intention of being back here next year for the festival. Bruce, Penny and Mike,. What a great oppertunity for "A Family Reunion". One of my favorite songs that Penny sings. In Penny's evening show she sang one of Bruce's songs "Can I Come Across to You", A truly beautiful song.
I have never met Bruce but I feel as if I already know him. Thanks Bruce.
Beer ( Adrien)

Correction: THE hit song and video for her students right now ...

This may be blasphemous, but I haveta say that the concept of the threesome of husband, wife, and Fred becoming a twosome of hubby and Fred reminds me of the current controversial R&B {Hip-Hop?} hit by R. Kelly, "Trapped In The Closet". My daughter introduced it to me after a Pittsburgh high school English teacher I was interviewing mentioned to me that this was THE hit song and video for her right now {and she wasn't very happy about that, and neither am I].

See this summary excerpt:

"R. Kelly's 5-part mini soap opera:
In June 2005, R. Kelly released to radio the first audio sections, or songs, of his 16 minute 5-part mini soap opera. The songs became r&b hits and generated even more interest as accompanying video became available. With the release of R. Kelly's latest album TP.3 Reloaded, a bonus DVD is included of all 5 video segments. As TP.3 Reloaded registered sales of almost 500,000 copies in its first week, "Trapped In the Closet" has experienced a resurgence in popularity...and discussion about its content.

"Trapped In the Closet" parts 1-5 may be among the most unconventional hit songs ever. Each part of the saga is a dramatically performed reading of the story over a minimal pulsing musical background. R. Kelly himself portrays all of the characters.

Each segment finishes with a cliffhanger leaving the listener eager for the next part of the story. R. Kelly has referred to "Trapped In the Closet" as a ghetto Desperate Housewives.

Controversy has erupted centered around the content of "Trapped In the Closet." The story details a tangled web of extramarital sexual relations. Along the way closet homosexuality, gun violence, moral standing of clergy, judgement of others in relationships, and violation of personal property are just a few of the issues that make an appearance. Some individuals have expressed concern over the frank sexuality discussed in the story while others are concerned about the negative image of the clergy promoted by the song suite..."

PS

If I have missed anyone to whom I promised a copy, please let me know by message, OK? I have about ten of the things left, and if I had promised but did miss you, it was unintentional. I need your name, address. After I send the copy I delete both name and address. I can get them out later this week. Organization ain't my long suit.

So I decided I had to hunt him down and kill him -- it was the honorable thing to do, after all. I ended up staring into a shattered mirror, a thousand pieces of crazed reflection radiating from the round hole my .38 had made in the bathroom mirror. So now I think I know just why you never mentioned him to me.

I'm wondering how come I never mentioned him to you.

Was thinking about a guy who has another man living in his house but doesn't know it. Lends itself to some humourous possibilities.

My mind's been hearing footsteps going up and down the stairs,
I'm running short of razor blades and Jockey underwear;
I hate to make assumptions but we eat enough for three,
I'm wondering how come you never mentioned him to me.

To add to what Amos said above, it's interesting to 'experience' the process of songwriting. I asked Amos if that was his--figuring it was--and he said yes. While he was kickin' that around, I was reading the thread "Lyr Reg'd, "You Never Mentioned Him to Me." Went looking for the words to that hymn for the post originator. (Found 'em BTW.) Anyhow, Joybell wrote "And I thought this was going to be a country song with a great tag line. Or maybe a 19th Century heart song. Anyway, nice to meet you Peace. I'm Joy."

It was too good to pass up. Even on a serious thread. So I wrote the following:

I didn't mind the dirty socks I found out in the hall,
The beer stains that are living on my Levis coveralls;
But now I'm filled with strange strange thoughts and cur-i-os-it-y,
I'm wondering how come you never mentioned him to me.

I'd like to know how long he's been a boarder in our bed,
And was it him you meant the night you screamed and called me Fred;
It is a bit suspicious that the bathroom's never free,
I'm wondering how come you never mentioned him to me.

The cat's been spraying everywhere, the dog's begun to howl,
I'm noticing red pubic hairs upon my favourite towel,
So tell me is it you an' me, or you and me and he,
I'm wondering how come you never mentioned him to me.

I have met Joybell on the 'cat before, but I don't know her all that much. I hemmed and hawed in my head. The second-to-last post on that thread (as it now stands) reads 'I had the strongest urge to call it "Ode to Joy". However, I have resisted the temptation.'

Joy responded, "OK!! That's the way! Nice going, Peace.
I put up signs when I'm selling CDs that read: "ODE TO JOY $20" Sadly no one seems to catch on."

The process of getting something written is a strange one. My time on the above? Maybe a half hour. Is it great writing? No. Does it serve the purpose I had in mind? Yes.

Peace

Hope the festival was a blast and that the gig at The Lena is successful for you guys. Best wishes to ya my old friend.

Donuel,

There are no copyright issues, etc. As long as they indicate that the CD is the record RCI 510 from Radio Canada International (a CBC subidiary), there is no problem. I don't think SOCAN monitors in the US. But if they do, it's usually about $1.25 per song per play. I really am just guessing at that figure. My royalties from that record have never been much. Maybe $50 a year or so. If the station would need a letter signed by me to cover them in the event, etc., let me know. Mike Regenstreif plays some cuts now an then on his folk show in Montreal. Frankly, when records get to be that old, no one really cares anymore. I am still the writer of the songs, and I would think in the grand scheme of things that that gives me a few things to say about it all. So, in short, if no one's making big bucks from it, I don't see who'd complain. I know I wouldn't.

I once had a gal in the US who ask if she could record one of the songs. I said yes. She was not rich and was doing the CD on a verrrrry low budget. I appreciated her manners in asking--she'd spent weeks tracking me down. My words back to her: be my guest. She wanted to know about money and how'd she'd ever pay me, etc. I replied, "If you make lotsa cash, send me some." Additionally, as with most writers I know, money's good, but what is even more important is that our names stay with our creations. (In the case of a few songs I've composed that isn't quite true--but, life ain't perfect.)

So, in short, be my guest. And thank you for that vote of confidence, Don. It is very humbling to me having an artist of your ability ('genius' is the word I should use, but I don't want to embarrass you) say something like that. Very humbling. I have been a fan of your work since I first encountered it. I really hope to meet you someday down the road.

Less than half that, ranger1, but your remark about the relative sizes of things is misplaced; it is a matter only of the confluence of attention units of the right kind. Azizi, gnu and Peace came together in a wee burst of attention that just happened to be the kind of vacuum I could fill readily. I am certain you have the same spark when the right intersections of attention hit you.

Staying low and keepin' moving
'S about all we have left to do
We've done our time at being targets
And mostly changed our minds, it's true.

So now the clock is counting faster,
And the middle ages showing through
Hard roads leave footprints in your mind
And no-one understands what time will do

We've all traded what we dreamed
For what we think we really know
And what we know now, best of all
Is to keep on moving, stayin' low

Add it to your bits and pieces, man!

I also had a good job at a fire hydrant factory once. But I quit because I couldn't park anywhere near the place.

We gonna have to have a loooooong talk, son. I have a sister named Nancy.

Clinton: NO. Did he? I'd bet he was good at it. He strikes me that way--good at anything he sets his mind to. However, now I have a mental pic of a young teenaged Clinton and--this is priceless.

We all make mistakes in life. Let it go at that, OK? OK!

Long story involving a three-piece suit made from banana peels and grapes, live hand grenade and a missing pin, and some peanut butter with a spoon stuck in it. Boring story that I won't go into. If we ever meet, I'll tell you.

This is a good thread, dfeintely not BS, and is the best of what Mudcat is about, IMO. Good words from Mike about Bruce and from Bruce about Mike. Words from the guys that were THERE then and now.

One question though, Bruce.... what was with the crosshairs, man?

Thank you, all.

Mike, a special thanks to you. There are few people in the music 'business' whom I trust completely. You are one I do. My intent is to do another CD of new material. What I promise is that you will have the first copy available. You haven't said how much I owe you for the various club gigs, nothing about the times I was down and you gave me work to make sure I could keep on keepin' on. But then you wouldn't. You always were a class act, and IMO you are one of three people (Gary Eisenkraft, Chuck Baker and you) who ensured that the City of Montreal actually had a folk scene. It was you guys who opened clubs and set up concerts and brought in Paul Jeremiah, Jerry Jeff, Dave van Ronk, Sonny and Brownie (and many, many more), and it was you guys who gave a music home to people like Winchester, Lang and so many other musicians and songwriters. That city's debt to you--and my personal debt to you--hasn't been forgotten by me, Mike. It never will.

Chris is a wonderful guy. He is a classically trained pianist and a fiddle player. When he did the stuff on that album he ended up playing rock and roll piano and violin. You will never know the chuckles I have had about that over the years. He took it in stride. I didn't hear the violin work until the album came to me in the mail. It's his work on 'Fool Like Me' that makes the song.

I have every intention of getting to Ormstown next year. Beer has suggested I might do some stuff, and I am really taken by his kindness. I hope it provides an opportunity for you and me to park it for a while and shoot the breeze. You have always been a wonderful friend to me, Mike, sometimes a better friend than I deserved, and I want you to know that. Keep well buddy.

BM

I got to hear Bruce Murdoch perform often in the days when these songs were new. I've always love these songs and practically wore out my copy of the original LP. So I'm very happy to have a CD copy now.

Bruce was a very special performer; and a great friend. I've really missed seeing him, and hearing new songs from him, over the past 25 years.

Coincidental to seeing this thread, I spent the day yesterday at Branches & Roots, a very small and very nice folk festival in Ormstown, a village about 40 miles southwest of Montreal. Among the performers was Chris Crilly, who played the keyboards and violin on Bruce's album. Chris lived around the corner from me for many years, but now lives out in the country near Ormstown and I hadn't seen him in several years. Penny Lang, who sings "Can I Come Across to You," was there too.

COUNTRY 'TIS OF THEE

This is the place I live, this is the place I be;
I don't respect the politics of ancient history.
Honey, I just try to tell it true.
I often walk around here, I cannot find my place;
Pirates raped my lover and they slashed her in the face.
Just give me words that I might write for you,
Country 'tis of thee, country 'tis of thee.

It is not true that languages do not get along;
They're written down, they're spoken of and sometimes put in songs.
I'm just trying to tell it true.
I count the blessing that daily that the air I breathe is free;
But between assault and battery you'll be brought to your knees.
Just give me words that I might sing for you,
Country 'tis of thee, country 'tis of thee.

Patriots shout promises and fools salute a flag;
While the country which it represents is torn apart like rags.
It's not just done in fact, it's done in deed.
Rich man left you helpless with his bank account intact;
Poor folks never had it can't ask us to put it back,
Hurts me deep inside to see you bleed
My country 'tis of thee, country 'tis of thee.

SNOWDON

The clock's breaking midnight, it might rain, the sky looks in doubt;
I feel like I'm uselessly following cracks in the floor,
All lost on the high range and Gagnier just showed me the door,
And Linda, I owe you a song, 'cause you taught me about
Yes Linda, I owe you a song, 'cause you taught me about

I'm sitting here counting the things that I can't live without;
And I feel like a kid with a crush on a girl he don't know,
Like you said in your poems, there's some things too hard to let go, And Linda, I owe you a song, 'cause you taught me about
Yes Linda, I owe you a song, 'cause you taught me about

Linda, I know what I'm trying to say;
And maybe I should.
But getting it said with these words in the way;
Aw c'mon now, I don't talk that good.

We've both got a shyness that's almost religion devout;
And that's all that stopped me from asking to see you again,
Aside from a feeling of nothing to offer, but then,
Why Linda, I owe you a song, 'cause you taught me about
Yes Linda, I owed you a song, 'cause you taught me about

AND THROUGH THE RAIN

Your mother she's tired;
Now she resents her chains.
Features are iron;
You know they won't remain.
Stormy her eyes get like the sky
Before it tries to turn to rain.

Your brother and you
Both know she can't be blamed.
Told her you knew;
She started to scream again.
Ain't hard to tell she isn't well;
It must be hell to go insane.

I tried and it doesn't do to
Show her that you both you
Go through
Her pain.

I know you must feel
Justice can't stay the same.
Justice must feel
Mother has got to change.
Hope that the dawn will soon be gone
And rest along the shore in flame.

IF I HAD WINGS

Like the sound of a poem on the pages of time;
Made love to your voice on a telephone line.
If your eyes would send a smile, I'd take the songs I sing;
And make the mountains ring if I had you, if I had wings.

In between the rains and the seasons they send;
No pain that a word from you couldn't mend.
I would gladly trade away the winter winds that swing;
Through all the rites of spring if I had you, if I had wings.

Yesterday the sidewalks froze, city fell behind;
Fortunately people keep the things that they hold precious in their
minds.

Built-in rhyme when you talk and the way that you move;
Ya oughta know by now that I've got it for you,
I would wander through this world richer than a king,
With a million gifts to bring if I had you, if I had wings.

MORNING PAPERS
Bruce Murdoch

Take away my morning papers, baby;
Take away my radio.
Confiscate my information, maybe;
Bust me for oregano.
You can take away anything that you want to take;
You know what I'm talking of.
But don't take away my love.

Meet me at the corner pool parlor;
I'll introduce you to a friend of mine.
Hanging out at the local racetrack;
Keep us out of jail sometime.
You can have anything that you want to have;
Do it on my living room rug.
But don't take away my love.

I used to walk like a man quite freely;
Then I found my life in chains.
Hooked up to this patient woman;
She put me back on the track again.
You can have anything that you want to have;
I could pass it off with a shrug.
Don't take away my love.

ROUGH NIGHT IN JERICHO

From the seaport down to this dirty town, skyline's lost its glow;
I beat my feet to the city streets and man I'm up to here with snow.
You can't subtract all the friends you've been from the friends that you
do not know;
Take a message to Joshua: rough night in Jericho, baby, rough night in
Jericho.

The Bible didn't save me man I did it mostly for myself;
Salvation's not the kind of thing you ought to leave for someone else.
You can't divide all the things you've seen by the things you cannot
show;
Take a message to Joshua: rough night in Jericho, baby, rough night in
Jericho.

Take a message to Rahab, tell her to show;
Take a message to Joshua: rough night in Jericho.

From the seaport down to this dirty town, Skyline's lost its glow;
I beat my feet to the city streets and man I'm up to here with snow.
You can't divide all the things you've been by the things you do not
know;
Take a message to Joshua: rough night in Jericho, baby, rough night in
Jericho.

Take a message to Rahab, tell her to show;
Take a message to Joshua: rough night in Jericho.

MAXIMELIENNE

Maximelienne, the sunset sings, tired ladies go;
Restless down the streets of dreams that only prophets know.

Max, you know I've heard it said that only children see;
Grown-ups like to laugh sometimes, but then how else could it be,
Maximelienne.

Maximelienne, the morning shines like a million sheets of gold;
And I haven't got the words that the poets never told.

***********************************

DOWN ON MAMA
Bruce Murdoch

Wake up in the mornin', gotta go somewhere;
Starting with a daydream, and it ended with a prayer.
And when I go down on mama, she pick me back up again;
Mama, pick me back up again.

Sometimes she get me growlin', she make me all mean inside;
Then she gets this reaction, the kind that I can't hide.
And when I go down on mama, she pick me back up again;
Yes indeed, Mama, she pick me back up again.

I'm coming home from the tavern, my condition is not pure;
Mama found the places that regulate my temperature.
And when I go down on mama, she pick me back up again;
Mama, she pick me back up again.

******************************************

(CAN I) COME ACROSS TO YOU

1. It's hard to talk when you know someone, baby, and I do;
It's hard to come across but when I can, come across to you.
Me who's passed through countless hands,
I've been that way before; I don't want it anymore,
Can I come across to you? Can I come across to you?

2. I'm using space to keep my temperature down, not to get upset;
Though I know that's like a hurricane, acting nondescript.
On a bankrupt stagecoach line, the line and I are left with these
thoughts we can't express.
Can I come across to you? Can I come across to you?

3. Your lips are priceless, there's no diamonds worth, the gates of patient prose;
It was you who got the door unlocked, when my heart was froze.
Jack and ace, they embrace this place, I've got nothing to demand, I'm simply offering my hand.
Can I come across to you? Can I come across, can I come across to you?

Your CD was in my mailbox as I pulled out to get to midtown and put some bistro-bought espresso into my system. Had time to listen to the whole album in my truck and I am grateful for your kind gift. I found it eminently listenable and a bit reminiscent of the era from which it dates.

Keep me in mind if I can render you some digitizing service in the future. I can offer acceptable quality, protection of the source material, and relatively fast turn around.

And, of course, the price will be right!

I am very flattered (and humbled) by these kind words. However, Dylan IS the man. I could never come close to his eloquence with imagery, metaphors, similes. I strive to do so, but I ain't there--yet. (A song I finished lately comes really close. To quote Paul Newman in the movie 'Hombre', "That's to find out.") Dylan was my inspiration to become a song writer, and while I know that occasionally people find his voice and vocalization a little hard to take, a better singer has seldom come down the pike.

I hope to meet you and your missus someday, Amos. Please ask her not to get her hearing checked until after I leave. LOL. Besides, you promised me we'd co-author a few songs, and that is something I'm looking forward to very much.

'. . . What a goddam shame Joanie didn't fall in love with HIM!!!"'

Thank Mrs Amos for me. If I ever have occasion to meet Ms Baez I will quote those exact words. Hey, I look like I'm 80, but the cold weather up here gives us a long usefulness. Hell, we are frozen for half our lives, so reality I'm barely approaching the tender age of 40. Just a kid, really.

Thank you all for the encouragement and kindness. I think maybe this thread has run its course and served its purpose, so if it's not too much trouble, could someone please close it? Thank you very much. BM

PS Thanks, Freda.

I'm startin' to blush here.

FOOL LIKE ME

Scores of prophets growing old;
Please take Elijah the rusted chains that hold
Poor Judas to his misery;
It seems so obvious he needs the sympathy
Of ancient history
And a fool like me.

Lonesome lover lost his bride;
Stopped his heart and so they called it suicide;
Judged by pompous vanity;
I guess they're right, but I have to disagree
'Cause if a fool be he
He's a fool like me.

BRIDGE
And care on the line,
It feels good to talk with a friend of mine.
If you gotta go
I'd like to be
To be the first to know.

Pleasant dreams though twilight falls;
It deserts the prison where the hobo's footsteps call;
Prime ministers of treachery
They locked him up because he had no pedigree
But it matters not says he,
He's a fool like me.

Hey, I wrote your song just yesterday;
And I tore it up because the song got in the way,
Was just a way to let you see;
Another chapter in a clouded mystery
Of vagrant effigies
And a fool like me.

a lonesome lover lost his bride
stopped his heart and so they called it suicide

your songs are moving, brucie. One has to be emotional to convey such imagery!

By the way, Bruce's CD gives- and keeps on giving. I've had my copy now for about a month and I still keep it by my computer so I can pop it in the player for a quick refresh. It's a good one, Peace.

Wow. Thank you, harpgirl. I am very flattered you like that song. It was my favourite when I first heard the finished album. I hadn't heard the various instruments that were overdubbed after I left Toronto to return to work in Edmonton. We did the basic track with voice, rhythm guitar (both me) and a drummer (to make sure I was keeping the tempo). BTW, the electric guitar player on that cut was 15 years old at the time. Here are the words.

THE PLAINS OF JERICHO

I used to go with a lovely girl, I haven't seen her for a while;
Lines of laughter in her face from a lovely country smile;
Ilyes came from Budapest where the Danube River flow;
I'd trade away my fondest dreams to know, what we left, on the Plains of Jericho.

I met her in the summertime and the crazy days ran wild;
I swear she borrowed innocence from the face of a newborn child;
Prince of Cups in love with her and man I could not let it show;
I'd trade away my fondest dreams to know, what we left, on the Plains of Jericho.

The last time I saw her I was blind from a hopped-up syringe;
It's hard to tell where one hell stops and the other one begins;
The fools we were stood naked, screaming 'Everybody look out below!'
I'd trade away my fondest dreams to know, what we left, on the Plains of Jericho.

I just received my CD at the office today and I have it on and I LOVE IT! But of course I expected to since I fell in love with Bruce's work in the 60's.

He writes such beautiful, melodic, interesting songs. I'm on the first listening of The Plains of Jericho. It is sooooooo goood! thanks so much for sending me one, brucie. Do we have the words up or can I do it?

Alanabit, "Rough Night in Jericho" is one of my favorites, too.

And I was delightfully surprised with the uptempo "Down On Mama"!

Whatever his handle, this place is richer because of Bruce Murdoch.

"four were so-so and the rest were plagiarized"

Someone really said that!!!
Not the brightest button in the button box then eh! Obvously whoever it is that made that comment is sadly lacking in a Musical education..OF ANY KIND and is not a very happy individual.

There is not one note, not one word that ANY Musician can come up with that has not been played or sung before in some format or another.
The skill is arranging the Notes, Words and the Feelings, making them unique to oneself by arrangement and expression.

Bruce Murdoch's work is beyond the need to have to borrow others people's ideas!
His Lyrics hit the Heart and his Musical skills are unquestionable.
In fact Bruce Murdoch's work is in NO NEED of defense whatsoever. It only draws praise from anyone who has the pleasure to hear it.His record as a well known Artists speaks for itself.

To make a comment such as this person did only shows how little this person knows about the Musician they are attacking and Music in general.
I can only think that the person that made these negative comments about Bruce's CD is twisted, envious, talentless in the Musical department and tone deaf, oh and let's not forget 'very cruel' at best.
That, perhaps, is this person's only skill. Cruelty. I feel sorry for someone who's Life is so devoid of Postive and Creative energy that this is how they respond to someone else's art.

Thankfully this wonderful Forum only serves to encourage Musicians. Regardless of the skill level, from Newcomer to Seasoned Performer. THAT is the beauty of the Mudcat in my opinion.
Fortunately unknown guests like this one that only post negative comments are irrelevant, especially in this case.
So take heart any Newcomer reading this Thread. Learn that certain criticism can be a constuctive thing to receive and helps improve one's Music. Most experience Musicians that offer advice would do so with kindness and respect.
Criticism that's only aim is to wound. Is truly irrelevant.

Great CD Mr Murdoch and thank you for your Kindness in sharing your wonderful Music with those that plaqued you to do so for so long.

Look after Yourself.
Respectfully,
J.MacDonald.

I concur with others that Brucie's CD is great!

I would also like to say that in less than a year since I found this discussion forum, other 'Catters have noted my interest in specific musical genres and customs and took it upon themselves to send me CDs of their compositions, musical compilations from other CDs, books, and a very hard to find record on children's rhymes. Mind you, these were sent without my asking for them.

I want to take this opportunity to let you all know how much I appreciate you and your gifts.

I feel blessed to consider myself a part of such a caring, talented, interesting, diverse community of folks.

Thanks again!

I see no such rush on this thread, Amos. Please show me what I wrote that comes across that way.

Are you not rushing to judgement, Amos? It really seems so to me.

Yet, you are keeping them. We all have things we "should have done" to explain our "whys", but many of us, once things have gone awry, fail to even attempt to keep the promises made.

I am guilty of failing many with my unfulfilled promises, and, though I know many would have understood my reasons, I even failed to offer them.
Sadly, this is epidemic in the world with which I am familiar. And, in being epidemic, it makes it less shameful to be a keeper of one's word.

That is about as open and honest as I will ever get on this forum. (Shields up!)

Not always, G-Spot. Many moons ago I was going to send tapes. However, I couldn't afford to, so I found someone here (where I live) who could transfer the tape to CD. That took a few months--finding him, not the transfer. Then (I am computer illerate) it took me ablout a month to connect with a co-worker who walked me through the steps to burn CDs. When that was finally done, it was at least seven months from the time I promised the tapes. One person called me to task for it; however, there was really nothing I could do about it, despite my best intentions. What I should have done is start a thread explaining the delay. Just didn't think to.

I can't message the folks directly because after addressing the envelopes I deleted all the addresses, and along with that the names of the folks they're going to.)

Just a notification; no need to post further to this.
