Please give a listen to WPIL FM in Heflin, AL, a new start-up independent FM radio station which our best friend, Roger Curtis, his brother, Jack, and others are running. Between Roger and Jack there is going to be some really special programming and historical additions as they are both walking encyclopedias re' old time country, blue grass, and gospel music, as well as other genres and broadcast/recording history. Some of you may remember the CD set Roger put together which I helped him market in this old thread

Here's the preliminary intro online to the station: WPIL Is a Christian based radio station playing a mix of old-time country songs that are pre-1970's. You'll hear from artists such as Roy Acuff, Red Sovine, Mel Tillis, Ferlin Husky, Bill Monroe, Ricky Scaggs, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, and many more!
WPIL is also a gospel music station with a mix of Southern Gospel and Positive Country and mixed with Bluegrass.

Thanks,

kat

Kat,
Thanks for that. I'll surely look into it.

Sorry I wasn't here to get your call earlier today. Carol says you're doing well with your new valve. You just keep on drinking that Valvoline---and you'll stay "good and drunk and goozy" --- as Bob Gibson's old song used to say it.

Will call later tonight.

Art

You are both most welcome! I actually thought of both of you when I first found out about this.

Roger and his brother are in a loaded down UHAUL with two blown-out tires, now being replaced. Roger is relocating and Jack went out to help him and pick up a bunch of his own stuff in OR. He said the truck had been dragging mudflaps the whole way, but they've had a blast. They met an old friend of Jack's who used to sing with and star in movies with Gene Autry, in CA who invited them to Buck Owen's place for the night where they got the red-carpet treatment, a place to sleep and breakfast in the morning, including for Roger's cat and parrot! They will get back to Heflin, tomorrow and Roger is excited about getting back to his first love, old time, real-live radio. Can't wait for ya'll to hear him. He is one of the best!

Thanks for letting me share. I just love this guy. I met him and my Rog the same day at the same radio station.

luvyakatgluggingValvoline...*ugh**BG!

Remember, Kat, the (first) L in Valvoline is silent.

I just love that schmalzty stuff. If I could get Total Recorder working again I'd probably learn some of these for church. Dang!

We danced to "Blue Eyes Cryn'in the Rain" yesterday and heard a beautiful, not-overdone old version of "Danny Boy," as well as some yodeling we think was Patsy Montana. Lots more great old stuff in amongst a few innocuous Christian PSA's and some good-old-fashioned real radio announcing. THIS ain't Clear Channel, folks! It's almost like stepping back in time to listen to this. Hoep some more of you will give it a listen and send them some encouragement. I've sent a link to this thread to Roger.

Thanks a bunch,

kat

Subject: Kat's friend and brother doing live show 25 June
From: katlaughing

Our friend, Roger, and his brother, Jack, willl be doing their first live show tomorrow night from 7-9p Central time, so that'd be 8-10p Mudcat time. As I understand it, local folk will be coming in to share their "doings" and music, as well as BBQ'd chicken!

There's LOTS more to tell but I want to get it right, so will wait for an email from Roger. He DID say they'd love to hear music from Mudcatters. Art, he is esp. eager to hear more of you, if ya know what I mean...I've been braggin' a bit, darlin'. More later.

Please, folks, listen in, call-in, enjoy. I promise you won't be disappointed.

Thanks,

kat
