Bronson born 6/22/1902 in Lawrenceville, N.J (died 3/14/1986) He took his master's degree as a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University and his doctorate at Yale. He was on the Berkeley faculty from 1927 to 1969, when he became professor emeritus. Among many credits and honors, we most appreciate the magnum opus, of course: The Traditional Tunes of the Child Ballads; with their texts, according to the extant records of Great Britain and America; Princeton University Press, 1959-72.
