Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: Girl Friday Date: 23 Apr 08 - 07:09 PM Thanks Micky. Tell that Bird Flu that the drummer is back. It was a temporary aberration caused by cat 'flu. The young musician in question prefers to play alone. |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: GUEST Date: 22 Apr 08 - 12:13 PM Oh brilliant, thanks Mick :) |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: Mick Woods Date: 22 Apr 08 - 11:39 AM They are still residents at Orpington Friday Folk And I think you can email Sue |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: GUEST,The Goose Date: 22 Apr 08 - 09:38 AM Hey! I love Tone Def Leppard ! We tried to track them down to come to the Goose, but we couldn't find them. Saw them at Orpington Folk Club a few years back, then at a folk festival - maybe Leigh-on-Sea, can't remember. No time to trawl through getting on for 500 posts, can anybody tell me how I can contact them? If you can, it would be great if you could email me, thanks!! sue@thegooseisout.com The Goose |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: Bird Flu Date: 22 Apr 08 - 04:06 AM Don't hear much of them these days. The guitarist was seen last week gigging with another, younger musician. The drummer has disappeared. |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: woodsie Date: 12 Dec 07 - 02:58 AM This thread is on the way to 500! |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: Girl Friday Date: 11 Dec 07 - 08:30 AM The last Fab Show is on Link Fm on Wed 19th December, 7-9 pm. Lots of people on it, including us, and Ben making his radio debut. Link is on 92.2 and you can listen live. I believe there is a webcam. |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: Girl Friday Date: 05 Dec 07 - 08:33 AM The confusion is understandable. they haven't got round to adverising as yet. They have a Myspace - useless if you haven't. Will try and get them organised..... Meanwhile this is the way we go. Coming from Orpington via Eynsford. Go across the ford(there is a road bridge) turn left After 400 yards or so you will see some white houses and a war memorial (firs right Bower Lane). Go up this for 2.7 miles. You will pass walled house, (security lights etc). Turn right about 200 yards past this.Sign in Hedge says Fox and Hounds. Massive car park, down there (field). Pub at end of lane. Fox and Hounds has a thread, but little info on it. Fox and Hounds Folk Club |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: Richard Bridge Date: 03 Dec 07 - 02:40 AM I think you'll find it is down in Romney Marsh, where cars swim, sheep have webbed feet, and a strap-on is a type of Wellington boot. |

Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: Girl Friday Date: 02 Dec 07 - 06:58 PM Just to let you know that we are hosting an Open Mic. at the Fox and HoundsFolk Club, Romney Street on December 10th. |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: Canberra Chris Date: 15 Oct 07 - 09:21 AM Happy to oblige, Sue, and to confound those who keep refreshing your thread themselves by complaining about it. I don't think they they knew how they were coming across to people watching the stoush (good Aussie word) bemused from a great distance. But in the words of their anonymous supporter above, "egotistical, unreasonable and irritable, with a rather high opinion of themselves" is a pretty good summary. I'm sure they are really all lovely people who run a great club, it was just hard to tell. I hope Julianne and Floyd of the Shiny Bums didn't miss out on TDL in Rochester - they loved the session. We await the international tour. Chris |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: GUEST,Chris Date: 14 Oct 07 - 06:10 PM Saw them at the Rochester Sweeps this year, and it was fun. I don't understand why people who have no interest in this thread read it or carp about it. |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: Girl Friday Date: 02 Oct 07 - 03:18 PM Good idea Richard after having read both threads, loved Canberra Chris's song.... am getting me coat on the Orpington thread. |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: Richard Bridge Date: 02 Oct 07 - 02:14 AM You might prefer to rest your honour, in case..... |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: Girl Friday Date: 01 Oct 07 - 06:29 PM Oh my Gawd! Here we go BACK TO TOP OF PILE AGAIN!!!! I'LL JUST GO AND GET THE KEY TO THE STOCKS AND PUT MESELF IN THEM!!!!!! I will get released immediately though, because Richard will plead my defence. My plea of "NOT GUILTY" is vindicated . SO I REST MY CASE YOUR HONOUR |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: GUEST,woodsie Date: 01 Oct 07 - 12:21 AM Haven't seen them for a while |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: Geordie-Peorgie Date: 30 Sep 07 - 05:29 PM Well said, Richard! Leave the band alone! - Their deein' neebody any harm and mekkin' a few people laugh! It's a lang time since we lived in a country where hevvin' a good time and enjoyin' yerself wez a punishable offence. Cromwell's England wasn't it? TDL never intended te tek the music world by storm so it's not THEIR fault if people liek them and want te put them on a pedestal. Between ye and me aah'd rather listen te them than Morrisey. If ye divvent like it - Piss Off and let them as does enjoy it! |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: Richard Bridge Date: 30 Sep 07 - 04:09 PM Oh, no guest. Quite apart from the fact that we probably all know perfectly well the derviation and meaning of the expression "prima donna", whatever you think of TDL's musical abilities (or songwriting abilities, and they are two different things - vide for example Bob Dylan whose "musical" performances are about the nastiest noises on the internet, although he also wrote some pretty good songs) "egotistical, unreasonable, and irritable" would be three unfair things to say about them. They have opinions, and not everyone agrees, but (apart from sometimes) they are not usually irritable. Yes, I've seen Sue lose it big-style, and make a bit of a fuss sometimes, and she and I have had sharp words from time to time, but by and large TDL are amusing and amiable. The Leopard Cubs can be teenagers sometimes (but, gosh, they are teenagers)! |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: GUEST Date: 30 Sep 07 - 03:27 PM Originally used in opera companies, "prima donna" is Italian for "first lady". The term was used to designate the leading female singer in the opera company, the person to whom the prime roles would be given. The prima donna was normally, but not necessarily, a soprano. The corresponding term for the male lead (almost always a tenor) is "primo uomo". Legendarily, these "prima donnas" were often regarded as egotistical, unreasonable and irritable, with a rather high opinion of themselves, not shared by others. Remind you of anybody? They could at least sing! |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: Richard Bridge Date: 28 Sep 07 - 07:17 PM What's age got to do with it? |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: M.Ted Date: 28 Sep 07 - 12:33 AM You certainly may use Mudcat as much as anyone else, the problem is, you use it more than anyone else-- By continually refreshing the thread, you've kept the name "Tone Def Leppard" prominently displayed on the Forum thread list for more than two years--it gets more exposure here than Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie, and Jean Ritchie or dozens of other more venerable performers--Clever marketing, I suppose, but rather tedious-- |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: Girl Friday Date: 27 Sep 07 - 08:26 PM GUEST GUEST ....Jo-Jo is a very nice lady singer from Essex. M.TED..... Leopard fans have as much right to use mudcat as anyone .else. The UK is still a free country! As Woodsie says "if the thread doesn't interest you, don't open it. I've ACTUALLY let it rest in the past and it gets refreshed by leopard fans occasionally. |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: M.Ted Date: 27 Sep 07 - 07:41 PM Why don't you Leopard fans keep in touch privately? |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: Geordie-Peorgie Date: 27 Sep 07 - 06:44 PM Aye! Aah'm up forrit! |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: GUEST,woodsie Date: 27 Sep 07 - 05:02 PM Well I am still amused - if you don't like a thread then you don't have to open it! We leopard fans can keep in touch via this thread and hopefully see it reach 500! |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: M.Ted Date: 27 Sep 07 - 04:15 PM This thread seems to be refreshed regularly to keep the name of this band on display--it was amusing two years ago, but has worn thin--no one really contrtibutes, and, I for one, would appreciate it greatly if the thread would be allowed to gracefully retire. |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: GUEST,Guest Date: 27 Sep 07 - 10:05 AM You missed the point I have no idea who Jo-Jo is? |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: Girl Friday Date: 26 Sep 07 - 06:26 PM Well, Guest,Guest, and OFC well-wisher Jo-Jo is entitled to her oppinions. At least she has the nerve to put her name to it! |
Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: GUEST,Guest Date: 26 Sep 07 - 03:52 PM Perhaps jo-JO should look at her self before critising. What does it feel like now when you don't know who's writing about you! Orp FC well wisher. |

I totally agree about Orp FC - real primas - or so they think - wont go there in a hurry but will try and get over to Friday Folk (I think is a real shame your club names get mixed with one another ...) Subject: RE: Tone Def Leppard From: Girl Friday Date: 02 Sep 07 - 03:53 PM Being thoroughly p****d off with our treatment (not the audience) at OFC. .. it was very heartening to return to Essex's Fab Club this afternoon. There are no prima donnas... we're all equal and share the running of the club. Our two songs went down a storm. There was yet another request for the words of ..."Peckham Rye"...... Our Ben's first solo performance was the last of the afternoon and was extremely well received. Orpington Folk Club Thread |
