Orpington Friday Folk -
I have been advised that Station Road will be closed to road users overnight from 7.30. Please find another parking spot and walk to the club. There is pedestrian access. This is for that night only and must be something to do with Tesco's.

Thanks to Rafflesbear for filming us. Making such an excellent job of it too! The room needs amplification Richard- yes, even T D L !It is similar to The Barge without the wide bit at the front and back! The pub is comprised from 3 or 4 tiny woodcutter's cottages. We have Canary Wolf on March 2nd, and The Phatt B'Stards next week, March 9th.

Areat is character in World of Warcraft and Mount Arreat is in Discworld games. I don't remember it in any of the books. I have read all but may have missed this point.

I thought RB was referring to Joe Offer's note I'll leave the (note spelling) tag up there for a few days, or until I remember I forgot to remove it.

I could be mistaken. Prolly am. I am good at that.

BTW... I did remember to do a plug for Ben 23 Jan gig at Orpington, yesterday.

Huh!   Magrat? She quit her witching (if you want to call it that) to be Queen of Lanker.
Joe don't need no acolyte. What he needs is a good PA. I suggest Susan (Death's Grand daughter). She won't let him forget his duties. Or Death Hisself. He enjoys trying out human activities, though he tends to make a botch of it. Still it'll be good fun to think of Joe coping with such a personal assistant.

GOOD MORNING HUMAN CALLED JOE OFFER. UNUSAL NAME. WHAT PRECISELY DO YOU OFFER? UH! SORRY. I SHOULD BE REMINDING YOU THAT YOU NEED TO AMEND THE TITLE OF THIS THREAD.

pulls out life timer with Joe's name

YOU HAVE 16 YEARS, 7 MONTHS, 1 WEEK, 3 DAYS ,17 HOURS, 26 MINUTES AND 8 SECONDS TO COMPLETE THIS TASK.

WAS THAT HELPFUL MORTAL CALLED JOE OFFER? HOW ELSE MAY I ASSIST YOU IN THE REMAINING 16 YEARS, 7 MONTHS, 1 WEEK, 3 DAYS, 17 HOURS, 26 MINUTES AND 6 SECONDS? WHAT EXACTLY IS IT THAT YOU DO HERE?

Hi Sue

Chesty cough thing almost gone now. Still have nice deep whuskey sound to singing voice (may it never leave me).

Hope to see you both soon and both fit and sassy.

Will try to remember to do a plug for the little Leopard tomorrow.
In fact will put note in front of my security blanket (book o words).

Tell Trev I actually played guitar (old youth size piece o junk) for about 3 hours the other day with little pain to my left wrist. WOOT! Fingers tips were sore though. Need to invent Instant Callus.

TY Joe for rebranding of the thread.

We don't want TDL to be confused with Def Leppard®, do we?
Actually, the only two acts I know that use the ® symbol are Billy Joel® and Chicago®. Def Leppard probably doesn't need it because its name doesn't use common word spellings.

I was gooing out to see what was left in Woolies, but thought twice about it. Even my chest hurts atthe moment, how's yours? Can you do us a real big favour tomorrow and remind everyopne that Ben has a gig at Orpington Friday Folk on Jan 23rd please. Thanks, enjoy tomorrow you lot.

Don't worry Ian, it being the season of goodwill I won't say that they had the only drummer who was improved by losing an arm (actually, on tis thread, should I say that... Oh! Hello Sue, you startled me.) And I also won't say that the only problem we have is with snigger snogwriters who think they are anything to do with or qualified to comment of folk music.

Amazing that the original Def Leppard have come in for some criticism, possibly from people who have never even heard them.

Lets see, a group of successful artistes from Sheffield who can 1) play their music without a song sheet, 2) sing in tune, 3) bring lots of joy to generations of admirers. (I used to go to see them when they first started out and my eldest had an album playing in the car when I got in it the other day.)

Not exactly in the genre, but there you go. I love many folk acts, have been to folk clubs and festivals for 30 years or so, played in bands, been booked as a singer songwriter and have enjoyed it. However, I also like many other types of music. In fact, the only thing I have problems with is the usual suspects sticking a finger in their ear and crucifying ancient ditties.

But I don't use this forum to sneer....

Hi Richard. What he had was a "procedure". They gave him a local anaesthetic and shoved a tube(felt like a hosepipe) up his right arm. Into this they sent two stents into his heart. He's been playing and singing with his little Dean this morning. He got stuck on "Homosexual" because he couldn't do the bass run and got through "4x4" but got breathless. Never mind, it's a start.

Do I infer that the "swift treatment" at Kings was surgical?

You'll just have to buy him a Rolls so that with the light power steering he can keep hands more or less in lap...

There was a bloke in NY who has a shoulder problem (this was on the Kat) and he had a wedge shaped guitar made for him.

Keeping both hands on the steering wheel involves using the same muscles as guitar playing. No-one has stopped him playing guitar, he can't stretch his arm around his favourite blue one. He drove a bit further today and it was a lot easier, but he wore himself out walking round B and Q and Morrisons. He came over dizzy. Sleeping now.

Right Mr and Mrs Bear. You don't want 2 of the new t dhirts that we gave to Biggles and Paul then. The Wee and A Shave ones were made for us and are therefore one-offs... but if you insist we'll have to do a new new design!

I don't believe that RB has worn out his TDL T Shirt as we've never seen him wearing it! Has anyone else? We know he uses "yesterday's T Shirt" for drying his plates at Knockholt, that would wear it out pdq. I do believe the transfer might have worn off. Obviously the shirt factory needs to get up and running again.

Sue... there are some others out there who claim to be glam-folk but we reckon they've jumped on our bandwagon. If you google glam-folk one of the results you get is The Mighty Boosh...!

As to accordion players... all the ones we know are busy playing in several bands at once, or playing for several Morris Sides. M'gine need not apply....

Dead Horse - that reminds me of a game my aunts and uncles used to play at Christmas - they split into ladies and gemts teams and one person in the team was given a subject to draw and the others had to guess

this time it was animals and the aunt in question drew an animal with spots on - immediately one of the others shouted "Tiger" to which the first replied - Correct !!

I'm sure there's a leopard connection in there somewhere :-)
