Hi Martin

Yeah - I've been struggling to get on Mudcat

I hope Guru was okay - the weather wasn't too bad for you

I went to the Blue Anchor last night - it was a good session - Trevor was there and Selina and Iain

ITS the Blues/contemporary session tonight at the Bull in Barton

All genuine folkies though; should be in St Michaels village, St Albans; for THE folk event of the year

That is where I will be, well in The Lower Red Lion mostly, but I did not want to put it on this thread. See you soon, what is Breezy up to? It's not in "The Unicorn" "THE Unicorn" The magazine for all your Folkie needs plus Mudcats Best Local Folk Magazine, so it is hard to keep track of him these days.

Handing out pieces of golden paper with a golden list on it

Hi John - hope to see you over the summer

Many thanks to all last night - Bert, Pat, Iain, Selina, Cathy, Richard, Keith, Eve, Roy, John, Steve and Matthew

Put what you like on this thread Martin - you know I'm not into that folkie clique correct bollocks

Is the Lower Red strictly part of the S&M festival?

Cheers squire, no The Lower Red Lion and The Boot, where we spent most of the evening were a little way away from the main action, but we did go down for an hour to see everyone, and some Morris teams. Very nice night, and it stayed dry this year. When is Breeys next thing?

Hello Ross and mart,

O K

update

Wednesday 10th Aug George Papavgeris hosts and presents Alaska Mike at the Duke of Marlborough

Sat 10th Sept evening concert with Mike Agranoff from New Jersey who is a cult fugure over there, I saw him at Herga 18 months or so ago and vowed to book him , he is amazingly talented and a highly professional performer from the top drawer of folk entertainers, a 'definite 'must see' artiste for anyone who is anyone in folk.

During the afternoon there will be an outdoor free 'mini fest' in the Duke of Marlborough's Barnyard starting at 2,00p.m. featuring the young Natasha Silver, and the highly acclaimed Tindall family from Oxford.

Other artistes are yet to be confirmed but George Papavgeris, Chris Flegg, Christine Connolley and Steve Last are likely to be there.

Bit like the garden gigs we did.

The bonus is all artistes get to see Mike Agranoff in the evening.

So , where are you guys that day?

Bout time Martin sang us a few more at the legion and try to be there for Lanfranc next Sunday

Hi Ross, It sad as the following copy
I hope Alan does not mind me posting it - as follows
>>>
I had hoped I would not need to tell you all about this until the problem is solved, but I think I do need to speak now.

You will be aware that Caffeine has had a long running problem with regard to a Public Entertainment Licence (PEL). As a result of that licence still not being in place when we finished the season on July 1st, the folk club will no longer meet there.

Finding a new venue is proving difficult, those places with a room so seldom have a PEL.

If any of you can recommend a place to try I would be pleased to hear from you. I will of course keep you posted as we have some great guests booked, and a new lower price policy in place.

Now the good news !

I made reference to a party on Aug 27th to raise funds for a school in the mountains of Tibet. Attached is detail behind what we are helping with (apologies to those who have had a copy already and an invitation to the party. Many thanks to those who can't come and have sent or promised a donation.

All the best

Alan & Sue

I was sensationally out of sorts - nothing I did; seemed to sound okay to my ears and I was hopeless at deciding what to play

It must have been the full moon

I think I'll look at getting a more versatile effects pedal - maybe that will make my guitar sound a bit more interesting

Cheers Piers - how are you these days?

Give the mudcat all the gossip

We miss you - your songs are often the topic of conversation at the Bull

Cheers Bert - still on for the Blue Anchor next week?

Hi Bert

The Blue Anchor is a bigger version than Barton - it's all held in the saloon bar - quite a big room - you can ride a horse in it

Same format - go around the room - sometimes it's two songs each per go - It depends on the numbers there

The hosts train a searchlight on you whilst you sing and a flock of seagulls fly around the room (all dressed as the pope)

Nothing to worry about then Bert - don't wear dark clothes

Yes, that is the northern Piers. I am well thanks. I haven't done much singing lately or got much gossip. I have been working for the man and stuff.

I am meeting Martin from Barton tomorrow, in a place called Hardraw. It sounds rather like the title of a porno movie. Julie Felix is going to be there. I knew she was fairly liberal minded so I'm not sure what to expect. We'll see.

All the best to the Barton le Clay folkies!
