Subject: Ribblehead Gathering
From: ossonflags
Date: 06 Jul 05 - 04:39 AM

As promised in an earlier thread I have now got a definate date for this cultural and sensitive event.

I have been in touch with the land person and she will be delighted to have us there.

For all those singers, musicians, poets and monologuers intrested in a friday to saturday informal event at the "Station Inn" Ribbleshead viaduct, I can now confirm the date as: Friday 30th Sept to 1st October- or into sunday if you want.

The "Station" is a great pub with fine ales and good food. They can provide breakfast at £5.50 a head or a cook your own breakfast pack at £3.00

There is plenty of room for wild camping, BandB or bunkhouse accomadation also a large carpark for those with vans.

All those interested or need further info post here or PM me so I can get some ideas of the numbers.

If by some stroke of fate there won't be enough bunkhouse beds, what's the facilities like for camping?

I ask because the Green Dragon site at Hardraw didn't have an easily accessible water supply, & only a few portloos.

Will the pub have o/s toilets & tap for campers?

Sounds like a good do though. Have a great time! Perhaps we could both sing 'Settle & Carlisle' at an agreed time on Saturday. Who knows, the vibes created could make Britain a better place……….. mmm, well…

That was very much appreciated by everyone. You're a star Hope you didn't feel "dog rough" this morning!

Well I did explain that it was a very loose gathering and folk had to make their own billeting arrangements. To be fair it can get a little rugged up there, but a little inconveniance - or lack of them - only adds to the ambiance of the weekend.

Mrs Ossonflags is running on all four cylinders Muppett, thank you for your concern.

If you can get up on Saturday PTH -that's us -has a gig in a little wee pub in Driffield. The Kelk Krew said they are coming as well so should be a good night. The offer of bed, board and marmite soldiers goes of course without saying.
