Raise the Roof is delighted to announce that Dave Webber and Anni Fentiman will be joining us for our end-of-year
(before the August "holiday") special on Thursday, 14 July.

The location is the Red Deer, 18 Pitt Street, Sheffield.
Tickets are £4 in advance, £5 on the door. (PM me if you want an advance ticket.)

Dave and Anni are brilliant singers with cracking songs, and Raise the Roof is always a great sing, so a good time is virtually guaranteed!

The monthly Raise The Roof chorus-song sessions have been going since 1994, and Dave & Anni have been the bi-annual guests several times before.

There's usually just enough time for everyone (who wants) to lead two songs, but there definitely won't be on Thursday. Yorkshire Yankee (too modest to say so) will be in the MC chair this month, so if you want to lead a song come early and introduce yourself to her.

(If you miss this one, there's no club in August; the next will be 2nd Thursday in September.)

I have heard rumours that Crucible may be attending as well -- if so, we are in for even more of a treat tonight!

Hey Yorkshire Yankee, don't give it too much of a buildup, otherwise it'll be like a sauna in that room tonight (not to mention a lightly smouldering crucible)! We do need to breathe, otherwise we can't sing...!

I've thought of that... I'm planning to bring a fan (as well as a device to circulate the air in the room); I may even permit it to be situated so that it 'blows' on people besides myself... ;7)

Thanks for the fan, YY; it enabled the capacity crowd to put so much energy into the singing without wilting.
Even more thanks for MCing a classic evening so well. I didn't envy your dilemma just before Dave & Anni's final set, when you had 5 regular singers left but only time for one. Instead, opting for another song from Crucible, whom we don't hear their often, was an inspired and tactful decision.

By the way, Crucible have an unadvertised gig at the Kiveton folk club, nr Sheffield, on Tuesday evening, arranged at short notice. See here:-
