The news are changing from minute to minute, but it seems that several explosions have occured in London tubes and buses.

Latest news says two dead, but I'd be amazed if there weren't more, given the reports of an underground carriage and a double-decker bus both ripped apart. Scares the hell out of me, especially since I came into work in Basildon round the M25 - suppose they'd done the Dartford tunnel or bridge instead?

The question I'm wondering about though, which no-one's asked yet in the media as I can see, is: who would be doing it this time? The IRA would be stupid to do this now (although there are splinter groups like the Real IRA who are loony enough). Al-Qaeda are likely to get the blame and are probably #1 suspect anyway, but it's a dangerously glib explanation that leans a bit too heavily on the public frenzy whipped up by Bush and Blair over the "war on terror".

Graham.

An Al Qaeda group have claimed responsibility but it's a section that no-one has heard of yet.

Most London Catters are accounted for as of 1.20pm GMT, all OK, if stuck in their offices.

Just spoke with Micca. Fiona's boyfriend Phot/Phat(?) hasn't been heard from but he is trained in rescue so may be too busy to call.

My son is somewhere in Europe, but I have no idea where. He started out in London, then went to the continent, and I think he was going to go back to London again. Here's hoping he's still on the continent.

Don't know the overseas code but I do know you drop the first zero.
