You are cordially invited to join in the chorus for our first:
MIT Chantey Sing on the Charles Sunday, July 10, 1:00-4:00 pm
Featuring Danny Spooner, Lynn Noel, Alison Lee Freeman, and friends (that's you!).
Wood Sailing Pavilion at MIT, 134 Memorial Drive (map link below). Limited parking, public transit encouraged. Walk from Kendall or Hynes T.
Download a printable flyer at http://www.lynnoel.com. Free and open to the public. ALL SING: Bring a friend and a song to share!
Please circulate to other interested folks. With sufficient interest and participation, we expect to make the MIT Chantey Sing a regular series this coming year. If you are interested in being a featured leader ( just fame: sorry, no fortune), please let us know. We look forward to singing with you!
Lynn Noel and David Kessler, co-sponsors with thanks to MIT
SPECIAL: Come early to catch the last day of MIT's Clipper Ship exhibition in the Hart Nautical Gallery. Perhaps we'll stroll over there at 4:00 to offer a few choruses from the days of sail!

AAAAAAAARRRRRGGGHHHHH!!!! I'm so sick of being stuck in the *&%@!!! desert away from the ocean. Rowrbazzle!!! I hope your chanty sing is a HUGH sucess. (from a purely selfish point of view - if it is, it will continue for many years and I may eventually get there!!)
Cheers
PB

Me! Me! Me!

I'll be wearing an MIT T-shirt with the wicked inscription on the back concealed by my pack.

There were survivors! We just got in the door a little after 9 pm. There were about 30 people attending, a nice mixture of strong leads and chorusers. Lynn Noel was in fine form and we exchanged CD's. I get to listen more carefully to her luxury cruise ship shanty. Lord knows what she'll listen to. Danny Spooner was in fine form, filling the boat shed with his deep resonant voice. Alison Freeman, once again from Maine, was also there in fine voice.

JudyB did a fine job leading John Warner's "Bunyip" song.

I really don't know many of the rest of the circle by name, although some are familar from Mystic Sea Music festivals. Someone else has to fill in. Celtaddict was there; maybe she can fill in a few names.

Looks like this is going to be a monthly Sunday gathering.

It's about 300 miles round trip for us so I'm sure we'll not be able to swing it every month but I certainly plan to attend some time soon.

Cheerily,
Charley Noble
