The next Lower Stoke folking drinkup is on SATURDAY the 23rd July. The Ship, Lower Stoke, Near Rochester Kent (clickymap to follow). It might run on fairly late. Start about 8 or 8.30pm.

For those who wish not to drive home I live next door to the pub and have 5 bedrooms, 2 sofas (one long one short) and lots of floor, a caravan (twin bed or double) a summerhouse (with spiders) a lawn and some tents sleeping bags inflatable beds and a camp bed.

I also have an elderly great dane bitch, a middle-aged border collie cross neutered dog, and a fairly aged burmese cross cat. They have their own beds but are likely to sniff at guests. The dogs will bark (which is particularly annoying with a hangover), but have not bitten any people yet. The cat sometimes decides to sit on people in the night, but not often.

I have some drive space for campervanners (well, one) and there is the road for others. There is a car park opposite the pub but vans will not get under the barrier.

Sounds great, I have been to a festival or folkie do a week since the weather has got better, and slept in the back of my Berlingo, but I am not sure if I can make this one, this time, I might be away. Other wise I would come.

Damn!! We really wanted to come to this but unfortunately a crowd of us are going to the Brighlingsea free festival that day. However if we get back early enough we might still see you.

If not have a great time and see you at the next one.

Refresh (an apt word as I do expect to be drink taken...)

Sorry to hear you can't make it Dipsodeb - and look forward to seeing you if you can Martin.

Fisheye, Woodsie, DK, Jeff Cole, do we expect you?

Spare bed bookings are under way and some spaces have gone already.

Royston?

You should expect to see Linda and myself - and we'd like somewhere to sleep for the night so that Linda can enjoy the booze !

Dave and Linda - consider yourselves booked a bedroom: Mumblin Len and tribe have bed 1, Rima and lady will get bumped to bed 3 since they can I think manage with the double futon (and anyway they might be bringing campervan), so you get my daughter's bedroom with the parisian style (double) iron bedstead (shades of "art" movies in the 60s) but I think she has taken the handcufs to Nottingham! I think you NEED the bigger bedroom more.

The small bedroom (inflatable double mattress on the floor or single cheap put-u-down) unbooked so far.

That leaves: -

the caravan (double or twin)

the long sofa

the short sofa

the put-u-down on the top landing (big landing, honestly bedroom sized, but a bit public!)

floors, camp bed (single) two or three inflatable singles and there might be another inflatable double, a very large (almost double mattress size) bit of 4 inch foam, a single foam mattress, 3 or 4 camping kipmats.

Own sleeping bags would be handy, as I think I only have about 5 spare....

Thanks Richard,
Bed 3 with futon will be fine I am sure. No longer have camper van, so won't be bringing that. Getting excited already....

Well, no definite bookings for the caravan yet, but the house is getting pretty full....

Pairs in (I think) all bedrooms, boys dorm in the lounge, no-one in the girls' dorm yet so I haven't had to figure out where to put it.

Time for a beer!

And maybe some guitar practice.

I checked last night, and the beer is in and resting, and should be on today. I will report on the quality!

I was supposed to be going to Brightlingsea Festival but this now looks uncertain. If I don't then I will try and make it down to this session.

Looks like it will piss with rain all weekend Woodsie, you might as well come here and kip the night on my floor! Get Fisheye to give you a lift. Bring Kenningham too. The more the merrier.

Beer was tested last night, fine: it's Tetley's Imperial this week, (same as Pete and I had for my party last summer, thoroughly approved by all at that time).

Not as strong as Speckled Hen, but honestly I prefer it, and at 4.2 it can be drunk for most of the evening without excessive damage!

Royston has confirmed.

Janice is ill so Rima will be in only for the main part of the evening...

Well that was fun.

We left the pub about 2 am, and I got to bed at about 6 am.

Mumblin Len and Friday Girl were well enough to leave Lower Stoat at 3 pm!

I am now washing sheets off the spare beds ready for the next one on the 20th August.

Apologies for non appearance Richard.

I was feeling decidedly sub par, and felt it would not be a good idea to go out. Much better today, so I will see you perhaps at the Greyhound tomorrow.

I'll be there with Clive.

Don T.

The more the merrier, Don, but to the extent that I correctly remember, a splendid time was had by all anyway.

See you tonight ( pressure fo work permitting).

Sorry to have missed it too, but I was at the Kent Beer Festival in Canterbury during the day, so I had no way of getting there later on (other than by expensive taxi). I hope be at the Greyhound tonight if nothing else crops up.
