Interesting little article in Times last Thursday about tenions over licensing - piano left unlocked for use in pub without licence and guitarist strumming in unlicensed back room of private club - £20,000 fine and or 6 months for owner.   Musicians oppose criminalising live music!   Been doing this for some years but to no availe - bill is n ow an act and comes in in less than a month .

Just a little aside - some local pubs in the area I live are in competition for sessions musiciaians - offering cheap beer to move! Also in the Guardian on a music survey 2% only rated folk as their favourite music by type but almost 20% liked music in pubs as their favourite venue.
