If track 6 is a female it could possibly be my grandmother, Aretta Bush A jazz singer. NOT SURE but the lyrics appear to be some I've heard before. Mostly accompanied other famous jazz sigers and Orchestra but have recorded a few songs. Maybe why its a mystery. Just a thought.

The song for #1 is "Things Ain't What They Used To Be"
by Duke Ellington
And the original performance with those lyrics was by a vocal group called Lambert, Hendricks, and Ross, with the Ike Isaacs Trio.

Some of these songs Ive song in an all county HS jazz choir a few years ago I wish I could remember the names but i know number 6 very well wish i could remember the titles

Here is some information about The Gibson/Baldwin GRAMMY Jazz Ensembles, which consist of a Choir, a Band, and a Combo. They are sponsored by Gibson Guitars, Baldwin Pianos, and the GRAMMY Foundation. These are popularly called the "High School Grammy" jazz bands, although that is not the terminology the GRAMMY Foundation prefers. Do a Google search on "High School Grammy" (in quotes) and you will get lots of hits.

I suspect what you have is a recording of a concert by these ensembles in 1997.

It appears that the web site doesn't have information going back that far. I'm not sure the same terminology was used then, or if it had the same organization and sponsors.

I have this CD i got from a friend and it didn't come with any track names so therefore I have no idea what the songs are called except what I've been able to figure out. one of the songs, number 9, is Thelonious monk's well you needn't. track number 1 I think is a pretty famous song. I've heard it a bunch of times in other places but i just can't figure out what it is. its a blues/jazz song and I've heard a bunch of good jazz players quote the melody. the only clues i have about the names is that the Artist is supposedly "1997 High School Grammy Jazz". i have searched quite thoroughly and found no such Artist or CD

the track information that i know of is here, and for the other tracks I'll just put the genres:

2. Latin (bossa nova, with a kind of funky feel)
3. The Trouble With Saying Hello Is Good-Bye by Henry Mancini(the song)
4. medium jazz ballad
5. medium fast jazz- with screaming trumpets, kind of sounds like a TV show theme
6. slow blues with a chorus (some lyrics are below)
7. medium jazz blues (16 bar i think)
8. Too High by Stevie Wonder
9. Well You Needn't by Thelonious Monk
10. medium fast jazz (sounds like its from a bow at the end of a musical)
