Subject: Volunteer at sea festival, San Francisco From: Peter Kasin Date: 22 Jul 05 - 12:14 AM We're seeking volunteers for the September 10 Festival of the Sea, to be held at San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park. It's going to be a reat day of traditional sea music, with a stronger than usual emphasis on Scottish and English music. Music will be on four stages, one of them devoted to kids concerts. There'll be crafts, rigging demonstrations, shipboard capstan, pumps, and sail raise demonstrations, and other maritime related events and demos. We are a national park, located on Fisherman's Wharf in S.F. Positions are open for emcees, stage managers, logistics, cooks, gate greeters, and various other tasks, with plenty of time to enjoy the music, especially for emcees and stage managers. Volunteers are treated to breakfast, lunch, snacks, and an end-of-festival dinner/party for performers, volunteers and staff. At 8pm there'll be a chantey sing aboard the square-rigger Balclutha. Volunteers are also offered a free overnight stay aboard ship. For more information, please contact the park's volunteer coordinator, Terry Dorman, at terry_dorman@nps.gov, or 415-556-1613. I'll refresh the festival thread so you can see the complete lineup of performers. Volunteerring or not, I hope to see a gaggle of Catters at the festival! Chanteyranger |
