Just a note about Tom Gala.
He wrote a few songs that enjoyed a level of popularity. His "Abelard and Heloise" was recorded by Sally Rogers and Howie Bursen. His lovely song "Witch Hazel" was recorded by Hills, Mangsen, and Herdman on their Voices of Winter album.
I had to contact Tom for permission to use his "Witch Hazel" in the Rise Again Songbook. The only Tom Gala I could find, was a tree trimming business in North Philadelphia with the business name Tom Gala Tree Man. Sure enough, Tom the tree man is also a songwriter. Good songs, too.

High-Low Song

    * (Tom Gala)

      And there's a low low
      A middle low
And there's a high low, a high low
      And there's a low middle
      A middle middle
      There's a high middle, there's a high middle
      There's a low high
      A middle high
And there's a high high, a high high
They're calling you high, calling you low
      Every damn thing in between

If you go round calling folk names they will get mad at you
If you go round calling folk names that they don't want you to
There's people in the papers, and hey, they're on the radio
Sayin' if you've got money you're high
But if you ain't got money you're low

If the baby is born it's one of the most important things in this world
People go walking round proud, sayin', I had a boy, had a girl
Imagine some guy coming by, sayin', Hey, little baby, you know
If you've got money you're high
But if you ain't got money you're low

Take a bite from your apple, and then something makes you squirm
So you look at the place where you bit, you see a great big worm
If the worm is whole you can laugh, it's okay, you know
But if the worm is bitten in half
Then brother, you are feeling low

      (as sung by Iain MacKintosh)
