Just heard Feargal Sharkey on Mike Harding's BBC Radio 2 programme talking about the new licensing laws.

How depressing to heara man I once admired become a mouthpiece of the Establishment, telling eerything's going to be for the best.

And how annoying that Harding that Harding didn't press him on anything at all - like Sam Smiths deciding the new licences will be too expensive, so scrapping any live music in their pubs. WHAT WAS THE POINT?

Perhaps you could elucidate how he felt it would be to 'everyones' benefit

Are we to take it that the bulk of amateur followers of music and song who love to pass time singing and playing for their own entertainment are to be treated as simply £ fodder for the Music Industry and to be regimented boxed and sidelined

Strikes me that this may an issue on free speech, as clearly we pose no threat in terms of noise or nuisance adding many millions of £s to the tourism income budget at very many festival towns and cities via the monies spent

This must be sorted and the strength of feelings misgivings and downright couldnt care less attitude in the heirachy needs to be addressed or are there too many vested interest groups within the current British folk circles? I ask only; yes lets have some rebuttles opinions and positive attitudes from those whose opinions should count in the UK ~ not those with vested interests

Come with a 'clean pair of hands' please!

I was being as glib as he was. Apparently, all you've got to do is make sure your local landlord fills in the form and everything will be all right. And that was about the sum of the "interview".

Mike Harding IS establishment now that he's famous, not left wing any more.

They should have got Eliza Carthy to interview Feargal Sharkey, she knows how to ask the right questions.

Why do we need to licence our own enjoyment? Do they get snarled up when a bunch of football fans start singing supporters songs after a few beers? It seems a case of one rule for us another for them. Just my opinion.

See you at Sidders.

Wassail! Chris

Good for Sidders.

Sharkey has not got the smarts to cut it, he is cannon fodder. A groise.

Performer-Lawyer group and Sham are playing hte game for you but the dice are loaded.
