7/28/1609: Admiral George Somers settles Bermuda. It had been discovered by the shipwreck of Spanish explorer Juan de Bermudez in 1515. It was rediscovered by the shipwreck of Henry May in 1593. It was rediscovered by the shipwreck in 1609 of a 9-ship fleet bound for Virginia, (including John Rolfe, 24.) One of the ship captains, Sir George Somers, 54, is so pleased by all this, he returns to found the permanent colony in 1612. This was not impeded by his death in 1610. Nevertheless, the name of the islands is officially changed to "Somers" in his honor. (Don't blame Us - look it up yourself.)

I wooed a stewed nude in Bermuda,
I was lewd, but my God! she was lewder.
           She said it was crude
To be wooed in the nude--
I pursued her, subdued her, and screwed her!

"(From an anonymous collection of child's poetry we downloaded from a BBS c.1988)"

"Child's" meaning "a child?"

Hmmm, I wonder what age that child was. Usually when the word "child" is used nowadays in the USA it means under 12 years.

He or she must have been some precocious child.

Well, perhaps I'm extending known facts a bit there. Those were the days I thought that stuff would always be available at the BBS site and I could always go back and get any details I wanted. Perhaps there is a vague trace of chagrin that I have no attribution. But there are a lot of anonymous limericks out there...

The dirtiest stanzas I know are composed by the under 12 year-olds.
