I think it's because it's still listed on the Kent Folk website!

We think Simon Evansmay have got into some weird time loop... either that, or he has a 2005 edition of AKF..... don't think that's possible.

Oh, wait a mo - Simon is out of the loop doing something urgent for his work for several weeks, so it may be about a decade before he replies.

Have just listened to Simon Evans. In his gig roundup he mentioned a Tuesday session at THe Canopus. Has it restarted under new management ?

As a banjoist and a bhodranist, I have been nailed to many Pub walls, however the instruments haven't. So if you see me bleeding from the ear lobes and feet, please don't ask

I aint so sure as how banjoists can claim human rights.
Animal rights, mebbe. But that only entitles them to be not packed in veal crates for shipment abroad. Banjos themselves, of course DO have rights. I have nothing against them whatsoever. In fact I have seen several quite nice ones nailed to pub walls. Come to think of it, the ONLY nice ones I have seen were nailed to pub walls! Would that it were the same with bhodrans and bhodranistas.......
My triangle, on the other hand (the left actually) is a fine precision instument of the highest quality and the very best metal!

The right of freedom of expression is a qualified right, and so is subject to necessary restrictions in a democratic society. Like sticking banjos places where they are quieter.

Richard
I think you are being banjoist, and thus infringing my human rights. Best you get yourself a good solicitor.

This session is still running - was v. nice on Tuesday and the guest beer was Hobgoblin and you buggers missed it har har!

At the Good Intent. You should come.

But not if you play the banjo.

Tone Deaf Leopard have often been there but as I read their postings, will not be there for a number of sessions now

The former Canopus sinaground will resume in the Good Intent, John Street, Rochester at 8.30 pm on Tuesday the 6th September.

When you have found the pub, enter through the back garden(!) as we will be in the large bar at the back and it's about the only way to get to it.

No jukebox. Folk fanatic landlady.

At least 3 good guest beers.

Now probably NOT going to the White Horse, but maybe to the Cooper's Arms (almost in the shadow of the cathedral and castle, and the King's school, and almost as old)

Keep watching

Please pass this on to all folkers. Simon has asked me to circulate it as his computer is very ill until silicon penicillin cures its virus.

The regular song/sessions at the Canopus Hill Road, Rochester have NOW finished.

They will be replaced by a similar evening, probably at the White Horse (just round the corner) probably starting in September, and probably also first and third Tuesdays. Watch this space, and also listen out to info to be passed via Bob and Kath Drage.

This decision was effective as of about 9.30 tonight after several altercations with the most recent manager about his juke box, which was running (usually too loudly) in the other bar, and was occasionally turned on in our bar too. We downed tools.

When Simon first started the folk evenings at the Canopus, we frequently played to ourselves all night. Over time, we came regularly to attract people who came to listen, varying from a minimum of about 5 to a maximum of about 20. Several have asked where we will be moving to, and are likely to follow.

It is particularly sad to see since Sarah, the late landlady who died last year, had done much to turn a dive used by those otherwise likely to be found in the neighbouring well known establishment in Borstal, into a respectable pub where families and people not wearing hoodies could go. Her piano, wrecked by the same louts, still stands in the saloon bar. She must be spinning in her grave.
