Subject: NW Leicestershire Quarter Session From: MBSLynne Date: 09 Aug 05 - 07:11 AM Ok, having had three successful three-monthly sessions, (Now to be called the Quarter Sessions!) we are going to have a weekend-long session from Friday 30th September to Sunday 2nd October. There will be limited camping in our garden, so if you want to camp could you please let us know in advance? We are trying to see if we can work out other camping, and camper vans are no problem, though again, not too many of them! The sessions will probably take place mostly in the Turk's Head in Donisthorpe as usual. I'll post more details closer to the time. We are hoping this may lead to a revival of the Donisthorpe Music Weekend next year. So.....who's up for it? Love Lynne |

Subject: RE: NW Leicestershire Quarter Session From: Shanghaiceltic Date: 10 Aug 05 - 10:06 PM Looking ahead will there be a session around the end of November? |
Subject: RE: NW Leicestershire Quarter Session From: MBSLynne Date: 11 Aug 05 - 02:41 AM The next one will probzbly be in December. Are you likely to be over again Frank? Love Lynne |
Subject: RE: NW Leicestershire Quarter Session From: GUEST,ss Date: 11 Aug 05 - 08:54 PM why can they not be more frequent??? what should we do while we're waiting for the quarterly sessions??? are there any folk clubs going in ashby/surrounding areas? i only know of scrag end and i've heard varying reports of it! is it worth going to? xxx |
Subject: RE: NW Leicestershire Quarter Session From: MBSLynne Date: 12 Aug 05 - 10:35 AM They can't be more frequent for various reasons. For one thing I don't want people to get fed-up with them. Also, we find it difficult to organise anything more often than that due to lack of time. We've been talking about starting a club in Ashby or Swadlincote, but haven't had time to give our attention to it. What can you do while waiting for them? Begin to get excited about the next one! By the time you get to it you will really be looking forward to it. Scrag end varies quite a bit. I only go to the singers' nights and they can vary from only half a dozen people to 20 or more (which is getting crowded). I've been to some really good nights there. You just have to take pot luck. There is also a club at the Drum and Monkey in either Church or Castle Gresley. I think it's the second Monday in the month. If you go to Scrag End this Sunday evening, you will be able to find out! Love Lynne |
Subject: RE: NW Leicestershire Quarter Session From: Shanghaiceltic Date: 12 Aug 05 - 11:00 PM Look like I will be over end November and start of December, but no dates yet. |
Subject: RE: NW Leicestershire Quarter Session From: MBSLynne Date: 13 Aug 05 - 01:34 PM Well let us know when you have dates. If it's only a week or two from when we would be having the session, we can always change it a bit just for you!! Love Lynne PS I know its really the Old Rosie that makes you want to come! |
Subject: RE: NW Leicestershire Quarter Session From: MBSLynne Date: 17 Aug 05 - 09:01 AM Anyone else?? |
Subject: RE: NW Leicestershire Quarter Session From: CallyH Date: 20 Aug 05 - 10:53 AM Come on ... someone say they're going else Lynne will have another 'no-one's coming to my party' type panicky things! I'll be there anyway |
Subject: RE: NW Leicestershire Quarter Session From: MBSLynne Date: 20 Aug 05 - 03:19 PM Hehe! Thanks Rachel! I'm not panicking yet! Love Lynne |
Subject: RE: NW Leicestershire Quarter Session From: Dave Earl Date: 24 Aug 05 - 08:58 AM Sorry Lynne, A bit too far away and a bit too close to other things I have to do. Have a good one anyway. Dave |
Subject: RE: NW Leicestershire Quarter Session From: GUEST Date: 25 Aug 05 - 08:50 AM |
Subject: RE: NW Leicestershire Quarter Session From: MBSLynne Date: 13 Sep 05 - 08:59 AM Ok...it's getting closer.... Friday evening 30th September...song and/or music session in the Turk's Head, Donisthorpe. If there turn out to be loads of people we may have more than one session going. Saturday lunch time 1st October.....same as above. Saturday Evening.......song and music session with a Sea theme to commemorate Trafalgar. Any 'Sea Links' however tenuous (and preferable witty and amusing) will be accepted..eg..if it's in teh Key of C it's fine. Sometime between the two sessions there will be food somewhere...haven't quite worked out the details yet. Sunday lunch time..survivors' session There are two other pubs in the village, both of which do meals. There are no shops. Camping so far is in our garden, so limited, but I'm negotiating further camping space at the moment. Please let me know if you require a camping spot. Campervans and caravans can be accomodated, but also on a limited basis. Again, please let me know. I'll get epn to post about the beer since I don't drink it so haven't a clue. But there is OLD ROSIE!!!!!! Post on here or PM me. Love Lynne |
Subject: RE: NW Leicestershire Quarter Session From: el_punkoid_nouveau Date: 13 Sep 05 - 04:14 PM Mark and Karen serve Turks Head Special - I can't remember who actually brews it (probably because I don't care enough about that when I leave the bar!). It is very drinkable... There is quite often a guest beer - there may also be space for negotiation with Mark on the matter. epn |

Boatin Wend is coming on the Friday night. The "Gazebo Mob" are probably coming. Bob and Katie, maybe Robbie Wilson? alanww and Sandy? I expect lots of the local folkies will turn up. Emma B might be, and Bassic. I think we should have enough for a good weekend. And the last session I thought no one was coming and it was the best yet, so this shoulc be good.... Love Lynne |
Subject: RE: NW Leicestershire Quarter Session From: RobbieWilson Date: 21 Sep 05 - 10:56 AM I'll be there but should be able to sleep in back of car so don't need camping space. |
