Subject: Lyr Add: ISLAND OF TIREE (Moira Kerr) From: George Seto - af221@chebucto.ns.ca Date: 19 Sep 03 - 03:35 PM ISLAND OF TIREE 1. When first I saw the Island of Tiree Surrounded by the great Atlantic sea, The sky was clear, the sun was shining down On the lovely island shore-line all around. CHORUS: The ferry leaves for Oban every day And passes Tobermory on the way, Then just beyond the lovely isle of Coll, Is Tiree, the most beautiful of all. 2. There are so many wild and pretty flowers, To try to name them all would take for hours, And then the birds, a hundred kinds and more Nesting on the white sands by the shore. E-mail sent |
Subject: RE: Scottish 'Tiree' songwords required urgently From: Sandy Mc Lean Date: 19 Sep 03 - 12:23 PM This song about Tiree is not Dark Island . It is a different song with a different tune. It was recorded a few years ago by a lady from Scotland who wrote the song, I believe. I do not know her name or the song title. I heard it on the radio a few times so I know the tune but not the lyrics. When I did a DT search I found this old thread so I will refresh it in the hope that someone may know it. Thanks, Sandy |
Subject: RE: Scottish 'Tiree' songwords required urgently From: Barry Finn Date: 01 Jan 99 - 11:11 AM It's in the DT. The song is "The Dark Island". There are two versions there, only one with a tune, but both are to the same tune. Lovely song. Barry |
Subject: Scottish 'Tiree' songwords required urgently From: InvaderW@aol.com Date: 01 Jan 99 - 09:31 AM I'm looking for songwords to a Scottish song that I don't know the name of. I know the chorus. It is as follows... **CHORUS** A ferry leaves from Oban every day, And passes Tobermory on the way, And just beyond the lovely Isle of Coll, Is Tiree the most beautiful of all. If anybody knows the rest of the words please, please email me them. I would be most thankful. |
