Subject: Job Description From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 11 Aug 05 - 10:58 AM Wanted: Singer for Gospel Quartet Must believe what he sings, have a natural gift for harmony and rhythm, preferably be able to sing leads while understanding that talent is a gift and nothing to be egotistical about, must enjoy praise that other group members receive as much as self-praise. Job requires weekly practice, including substantial travel time, ability to perform during normal 9-5 work hours and weekends. Performance venues range from churches to nursing homes, homeless shelters, folk festivals, and a variety of social events along east coast and as far west as the MidWest. Most performances are done on a volunteer basis. Occasional paying jobs do not offest cost of being in the group. If interested, contact Jerry Rasmussen Yes, it's true... I am looking to expand my quartet to a quintet. Not that I'm really going to post a job description, but when I think of the demands required for a job where the harder you work the more money you're likely to lose, it's no wonder that finding someone is so difficult. It made me wonder how you'd write a job description for a folk singer, an instrument player, a promoter or a coffee house owner. If you're honest about it, you wonder why people would even apply. And yet in our own way, all of us have applied for equally modest, low-paying jobs. Anyone want to take a stab at a job description for another position? Someone could write one for Max (or Joe and the Joe Clones...) And be nice about it... Jerry (fully underemployed at the moment.) |

Must have nearly unlimited patience, great forebearance, and tolerance for many different points of view. Must be willing to confront interminable streams of passive-aggressive abuse, disagreements and assorted hobby-horsing with equanimity and still be firm about making policy decisions where needed. Must be willing to do long hours of unpaid labor herding wet cats and teaching pigs to sing. Apply to Max at MudcatdotOrg. A |
