Happy Birthday!

Sir Walt Scott

born

8/15/1771
(d9/21/1832)

Why weep ye by the tide lady, why weep ye by the tide
I'll wed ye to my youngest son and ye shall be a bride
And ye shall be his bride lady, so comely for to see
But aye she's let the tears doon fa' for Jock O' Hazelgreen.

"Jock O' Hazelgreen" (Child #293 - Scott added all verses after the 1st)

I find it interesting that much of Scott, the aristocrat's, work went into tradition and Burns, the national poet's work didn't. Some work is right in its feeling for the country people, and some isn't.

Also, Norma Waterson born 8/15/1939
Also, Napoleon Buonaparte b8/15/1769 (d5/5/1821), it's Napoleon's Day in Corsica
Also, Mike Seeger born 8-15-1933
