Subject: Lyr Add: HEY BOYS (from The Dillards) From: X Date: 21 Aug 05 - 09:02 PM HEY BOYS (Rodney Dillard, Mitch Jayne, Herb Pedersen, Dean Webb) When I was a young man I lived along the Marrimack, Washed in the river when the water ran clean. Waited for the day I could buy me a Cadillac, And see a lot of things that I never have seen. Went to the city and got a little older, And got a little smarter and learned good sense. Went back home and I married me a women, Got a corn land bottom and a barbed wire fence. Chours Hey boys I think I'm getting old, Setting by the fire when the weather gets cold. Don't care down around the farm, And another little drink won't do us any harm, harm, harm, harm... Hard times made a little moonshine, Never done that in my life before. Kept up with the news in the winter time, Setting on a barrel in the country store. Chorus Rear back talk about your politics, Fight about religion and worry about war. Paul said, a spitting in the fireplace, And pour a litter cider when your throat gets sore. Hey boys I think I'm getting old, Setting by the fire when the weather gets cold. Don't care down around the farm, And another little taste won't do us any harm, harm, harm, harm... Hey boys, hey boys, hey boys, hey boys…..I think I'm getting old. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Hey Boys - The Dillards From: X Date: 22 Aug 05 - 11:33 AM You're welcomed. I see I dropped an "R" from the word "Marrimack." Maybe the word is "Marymack" for the Marymack Lakes in Pike County, Georgia. Hugh "R" added. -Joe Offer- |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Hey Boys - The Dillards From: GUEST,Dale Date: 22 Aug 05 - 06:48 PM The key here is that the Dillards were Missouri boys, so the correct spelling is Meramec, though you are likely to see it as Merrimac here and there as well. The Meramec gets its start near Salem, Missouri, where the Dillards hailed from and winds around for 200 miles or so before emptying into the Mississippi 15 or 20 miles South of St. Louis. |
