The sexiest female movie stars I can think of off the top of my head are Senta Berger, Raquel Welch (1 Million Years BC and Bedazzled),Pam Grier,and Halee Berry and ofcourse Salma Hayek and Kim Basinger and I quite like Sherilynn Fenn and Elizabeth Montgomery and who could forget Cyd Charisse and Betty Grable and Jane Russell or Maureen O'Sullivan and Merle Oberon. I cannot believe I haven't mentioned Mae West yet nor Teresa Russell or even Fiona Richmond but by far the sexiest and most revered lady in the movies has to be the one and only Margaret Rutherford a real humdinger of a gal if ever there was one!

I also have to put in a good, solid vote for Ava Gardner. She was a woman who positively smouldered. She was portrayed rather well by a modern actress (whose name I've temporarily forgotten) in the recent movie, "The Aviator".

I can't remember any of her films right now but Samantha Eggar was a stunner and quite sexy.
Jessica Lange in Rob Roy and Madeliene (sp?) Stowe in Last of the Mohicans and Eva in The Sun Also Rises really did it for me.

A few more obscure ones worth checking out -- Kelly McGillis in Witness (the first thing she was ever in was Reuben, Reuben, which prompted Stanley Kauffman of the New Republic to liken her to a shower of gold). Margaret Sullavan in The Moon's Our Home (a wonderful movie that no one ever sees anymore). Elizabeth Taylor in Ivanhoe or Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (sharing her beauty peak with Paul Newman). And, although she was not my type, Olivia Hussey in Romeo and Juliet was quite beautiful (as was her co-star, whatever his name was). And speaking of beautiful couples, Robert Redford and Jane Fonda were both at their peak in The Electric Horseman (it is amusing to see them in Barefoot in the Park a few years earlier when they are at the chrysalis stage).

Peter, thanks for mentioning "Witness." Harrison Ford, in any of his movies, starting with "American Graffiti" and "Star Wars" (the first one--yeah, I know, Episode 4--it's still the first one to me).

Richard Dreyfuss in "The Goodbye Girl." Smart, funny, and VERY romantic.

Sigh. Keven Costner in "Silverado" and "Bull Durham." Love the bathtub scene--and Susan Sarandon in the same movie. Susan is sexy in ANY of her movies. ("White Palace" comes to mind).

I cannot believe that no one, including me, has mentioned Julie Christie, who is basically the gold standard, actually above that, well above 1 Helen (the amount of beauty it takes to launch 1000 ships).

One of the most beautiful women ever is Yoko Shimada, who some people will remember.........
