Subject: Tech: Internet Radio Station for Indies From: Bobert Date: 05 Sep 05 - 03:00 PM I want to start a recording studio for Independent artists in the Genre of Blues. If this station goes over as well as I expect then the approach will be used to start stations for other Genre's of music. There are almost no major market stations playing Blues as a format for some unknown reason.I can speculate and say that it is due to the fact that the Arbitron ratings are based on the Demographic of 18 to 35 and that even though the majority of us Americans are Baby Boomers.I know because I have told many many people of my love for this type of music and always hear the same thing.Oh I love the Blues. Right now the situation is like the Philosophy question "If a tree falls in the forrest and no one is there to hear or see it did it fall?".The only true answer has to be that it does not matter. There are some extremely good up and coming Blues artists that no one or very few will get to hear and that to me is a crying shame. I plan to start a Radio Station to address this problem. The format is going to be very different from anything now on the Internet. This will include interactivity between the DJ's and the listeners as well as live interviews of the artists and stories about the music like where it comes from and what it means. I have a recording studio and I will record persons that would not be recorded otherwise due to finacial reasons or any other reason other than that they don't have the talent that people would want to hear.I charge nothing for studio time and split the costs of actually producing the CD's 50/50 with the artist and share any revenue 50/50 also. Some of you might not know that when a artist signs with a typical Record Label they end up with about 15 cents per album. This is totally unfair in my opinion. The world needs more good music and it is out there for sure.I just had a man some of you know come here from Virginia and we recorded enough good material for two CD's.He goes by the name Bobert or Sidewalk Bob or just plain Bob Harrison.mississippitom |

Subject: RE: Tech: Internet Radio Station for Indies From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 05 Sep 05 - 09:03 PM Gawd! Another bloody idealist! The Folk Music world seems to have a few... I mean this sincerely - Good Luck Mate! A worthwhile cause - especially your silly idea of giving the starving Artist more than a mere Poverty Pittance... You won't be rich - at least not as rich as those big companies... :-) Please keep us informed. Robin |

Subject: RE: Tech: Internet Radio Station for Indies From: Bobert Date: 06 Sep 05 - 12:13 PM Thanks Robin.I will definitely keep you and anyone else informed.I have had some really good support for this idea from some very good sources.I got my first pledge from a indie record company to send me some music and I expect a great deal more of that will happen.I dont see myself as an idealist but maybe I am.I love music and believe in it's power to do good things.Of course it can also do bad things just like anything else.mississippitom |
