Subject: Review: Herga's new room tonite From: Houston_Diamond Date: 05 Sep 05 - 08:59 PM Just when I became comfortable in the hut at the Arts Centre we move into a really nice room!!! I am really pleased with the new accomodation for the club and hope that the next 25 years it will be a common venue for many great performers. I think it sounds very acoustically pleasing and compliments the chorus singing that has become quite infamous at the club. The room seemed quite hot but it has been one of those muggy days in Harrow so I'm hoping that the heat won't be a permanent feature (except for winter time:)). Thanks goes to Christine Connolley and John Breeze for a loverly set also to all who performed as once again it was a lovely night at the Herga Folk Club. Houston. |
Subject: RE: Review: Herga's new room tonite From: Moses Date: 06 Sep 05 - 03:35 AM Thanks, Houston, for the kind words. I really enjoyed the evening and just sorry Steve (The Ref) couldn't be there to take part. Thanks to Breezy for his inimitable accompanying skills - managing to squeeze the tune of "Freight Train" into the break in "Hard Times" has to be heard to be believed!! Next week is a singers/musicians/performers night when everyone gets a chance to have a go. In the meantime, if you are in St Albans on Saturday 10th Sepember, check out the Duke of Marlborough pub where from 2pm there is a free mini-festival followed by a concert in the evening (admission £5.00) with Mike Agranoff and supporting performers. Breezy has all the details and no doubt will be starting his own thread if he hasn't already. |
