My grandson Michael was 3 on the 28th of August and I haven't seen him since he was 6 months old; sniff! That's because he lives in Hanover NH and I live in Lairg in Scotland.

Muppet me old mucker!!! Congratulations on the birth of your granddaughter, Maisey. This explains your sudden disappearance from Whitby Folk Week! We missed you.
We'll see you at Otley Folk weekend but before then what are you doing this Saturday (Sat 10 Sept). There is "The Folk Day at the Sair" on Saturday at The Sair Inn, Hoyle Ing, Linthwaite, Huddersfield. This is in The Colne Valley, towards Uppermill and Oldham and approx 3 miles from Huddersfield.Jump on a bus from Hudds going to Slaithwaite/Marsden and jump off at "Bargate", Linthwaite - then up a very steep hill called "Hoyle Ing" until you reach the Sair at the top.Events start at 1.00pm with morris dancers/sing-arounds/musicians sessions rolling on until 11.00pm and The Sair is also a micro-brewery, serving up to 10 hand-pulled ales!!! How can you resist? Me and Bev organise this do and we would love to see you there. Chris, Bev and Macca.

Muppett ....... he only missed you cos he's a lousy shot

Congrats on the new Grandchild, but as I said in another thread your daughter should forego the pleasure during December in order that you don't miss another folk week !

Cheers

Nick

Well we wouldn't forgive you if you hadn't put this news on, Muppett! Brilliant news - well done Gemma! Looking forward to meeting little Maisey but playing with Travis's engines will have to wait as unfortunately my brother has chosen Otley weekend to get his marriage blessed. I blessed them myself when they told me the date but I'm happy for them and want to be at the 'do' I haven't got any grandchildren but rest assured when i get some I will want everyone to be as happy for me as we are for you now :0))

Hi Muppet. Yup, it is Chris, you'll see me as "soldier boy" in my red Zulu-type army jacket on Sat, thrashijg me Snair Drum with the local Slubbing Billys morris side. I'm delighted that you can come over for early evening, that's when the morris teams will have finished and we flow into an evening of musicians sessions and sing-arounds. I'm really looking forward to your inimitable/unique/brilliant contribution to the evening!!!
Do you mind Muppet if I put a short promotion in here? - If others reading this are wondering how to join me and Muppet and other folk friends for a grand day out this Sat 10 Sept, check out other references to "The Folk Day at the Sair" in the first thread from "Soldier Boy" above and also in the "music" threads section of Mudcat messages. Sorry about that Muppet, but this would be a brilliant occasion for you to "wet the babys head" with your folk friends.   Can "you" join us to celebrate with Muppet this Saturday?

Hey up Geoff the Duck
You're right, must be getting addled ( thought I'd lost one in the ether! ) I'd better keep off Rons' Enochs Hammer!
Did'nt know you knew Ron Crabtree and The Sair but I,m glad you do.
Are you and Jane and the ducklets able to wend your way to the Sair this Sat to help Muppet celebrate the birth of his lovely new granddaughter; Maisey?
[Muppet-avert your eyes, you're not supposed to see such plottings behind your back !!]

Muppett,

Stop smiling - it only means you've to buy more Christmas presents!!!

Congratulations, glad they're both well, glad you're happy.

Gemma.    She's the toddler behind whom you were crawling round the floor with a spoon of food in your hand, trying to slot it into her mouth as she wandered around the room, one winter teatime when Stuart and I visited you and Anne.       I remember admiring your persistence.    It obviously paid off!
That day we were talking about the Civil War Society - I still think of 'big bangs' (gunfire, you eavesdropping perverts) when I see war enactment on telly.

Looking forward to the Maisey Rap - "I'-v-a been-a grand-a-father for-a many's-a year...... "

Maybe see you at carol singing....

Take care, keep on grinning,

Joy
