Smoke-Free Pubs. They're in ireland, are coming soon to the UK, and are definitly better than tobacco. I like being able to see and breathe at the end of an evening, especially if I'm going to try and sing.

open mike, in my neck of the woods "kinick kinick" is a blend of sage, cedar, sweetgrass and .... (drum roll) .... Tobacco! These are the 4 traditional sacred herbs of the local Native peoples. Kinick kinick is used for ceremonial purposes (offerings, smudging) and not necessarily for smoking.

Giok, how did you post those COOL notes?    :-D   (or rather, 'dots' - seeing as I'm on Mudcat)

I've had to open up the 'magic codes' by inserting lots of underscores '_' chars - simply reove all of them to make it work.

If you click on start/all programs/system tools/character map, there's a whole bunch of interesting characters there - including the notes. Just select the ones you want, click on copy, and paste them into your window. If you want to preview them first, you will see them as a whole bunch of numbers in your window, and as all the fancy characters in the preview pane. Then hit submit. And voila!

Yeah maybe from that perspective. But just try rolling a font in papers and smoking them. Yuk.

My landlord is a great guy. He's Greek. One night (Early morning actually--he decided he had to teach me to eat raw garlic the 'right' way. Mouthful of Feta cheese and a half clove of garlic, raw. He and I went through about fifty cloves between the hours of 2:00 AM and 3:30 AM. I got a fire call at 5:45 AM. Motor vehicle collision. It was 68 kilometers away from town. Six of us went. I was in the back of the rescue response vehicle with three other guys. They began to look at me. Then wrinkle their noses. Then I breathed on the fellow to my left. He said, "If there's any mouth to mouth to be done, maybe someone else should do it." It went on like that for 65 kilometers. We got turned back at kilometer 65 because the EMS didn't require extrication or help. I am still hearing about it--three weeks later. Go figure.

If you eat enough garlic, eventually your body is cleansed, and you will no longer smell of garlic when you eat it.

"If you eat enough garlic, eventually your body is cleansed, and you will no longer smell of garlic when you eat it."

This doesn't make sense as the "smell" is produced by sulfur compounds contained in the garlic and not by some odiferous substance being cleansed from your body.

I was told that the sulphurous smell comes about as a reaction to your unhealthy system. When you are healthy, no reaction, so no smell.

A former boss of mine would eat garlic as if it were sweeties... she couldn't smell anything but we all knew she was on her way about 5 minutes before she walked through the door!

It was so bad that a colleague suffering from morning sickness actually threw up in her office during a meeting with the boss.

The longer you cook it, the less it smells/tastes, but you still exude the same fragrance the next day as if it were raw.... and not just via your breath either!

LTS

Sudden weird craving for garlic bread now!

Good grief, Liz! Having a craving for broad beans is like having a craving for raw oatmeal. Only a woman who's..... Oh,...Oh, sorry.

spaghetti up above, too. That tastes like a drink of water unless you put something with it.

I once had a workmate who would suck a lemon with salt and pepper on it.
Too bold for me. Cheese and fruitcake is as brave as I get.
