Subject: RE: taylor T5 Anyone use them? From: GUEST,brianjjbruce@aol.com Date: 16 Sep 05 - 02:38 PM I have a number of Taylors that I gig with. It is my intentuin to buy a T5 I havr tried on extensivly and find it brill. If yiu go on the Taylor Web Aite you will see a number of artists playing them. The best being Doyle Dykes and the NAMM introduction video with Bob Taylor and a few Players Demoing it.It is impressive |

Subject: RE: taylor T5 Anyone use them? From: number 6 Date: 16 Sep 05 - 05:27 PM As much as I like Taylors and feel they make a quality product ... I'd wait some time to let the T5 prove itself. Taylor did have problems with their new Expression System when first came out ... and somehow I think they will encounter some flaws with the new T5. sIx |

Subject: RE: taylor T5 Anyone use them? From: number 6 Date: 16 Sep 05 - 10:05 PM It's Taylor's entry into the electric guitar market. It's a full thin hallow body .... can be played through an electric and accostic amp. They've designed it so it can be played as an accoustic (amped) or as a 'full'driving electric guitar. The pickups, and sound technology was developed by Taylor. Should be interesting to see how this takes off. sIx |

Subject: RE: taylor T5 Anyone use them? From: kendall Date: 17 Sep 05 - 08:22 AM I hope it does take off. In the opposite direction. |

Subject: RE: taylor T5 Anyone use them? From: GUEST,rq Date: 27 Sep 05 - 01:13 AM I've tried both the maple tops and the spruce tops. The spruce tops don't look as sexy, but I think they sound warmer with a bit more tang on the top end. Acoustically they are excellent- sound great and are inspiring to play. Electrically they're disappointing. The possibilities are impressive, but there is something going on with the pickup sensitivity and resonance. Some notes (on both the maple and spruce tops) really take off even at the lowest volumes. These discrepencies really become evident inside certain chord voicings. For example- a Dm7 played at the 5th fret. Acoustically it sounds great, but electrically (on both the maple and the spruce) the C on the 3rd string (minor 7th note) starts to feedback even at very low volume, and the D on the 5th string (root) gets lost. I love the way the guitars play and feel, but I think I'll be sending it back to Taylor. Maybe when they get it in their hands they'll believe these observations; instead of giving a lot of excuses over the telephone. |

Subject: RE: taylor T5 Anyone use them? From: GUEST,chris Date: 27 Sep 05 - 04:42 AM I wonder what difference anyone else's thoughts really count for- if you like the instrument and it does what you want does it really matter if it doesn't do what someone else wants from an instrument. I used to have an old Levin which everyone who heard it thought it sounded great but no one but me liked playing it. |

Subject: RE: taylor T5 Anyone use them? From: Mooh Date: 27 Sep 05 - 09:45 AM The T5 concept is great, and Ovation once had a similar thing happening (Viper?) but it didn't quite reach the crossover electric market. I don't figure there's an enduring market for the T5 either, but they'll be fun while they're available. A bass maodel would be cool. Peace, Mooh. |

Subject: RE: taylor T5 Anyone use them? From: GUEST,rq Date: 27 Sep 05 - 11:55 AM The difference in "anyone else's" thought is that in this case they're probably spending over $2500 on a product that perhaps isn't ready for the market, or has questionable quality control. The query on this forum could be to see if this is an anomaly or if others may have experiences similar issues. |

Subject: RE: taylor T5 Anyone use them? From: 'those feet in ancient times Date: 01 Oct 05 - 09:07 AM The reason for asking other peoples views is that often over time perceptions change, and I thought it might be worthwhile trying to seek out the views of people who might be more familiar with the instrument and benefit from their experiance (isnt that what forums are for) |
