Meningitis and septicaemia can kill in hours. People who recover may be left with permanent disabilities or a range of after effects that dramatically alter their lives. Disabilities include brain damage, sensory disabilities, amputations and a range of non-specific after-effects, permanent and temporary.
Meningitis and septicaemia can, however, often be successfully treated if identified in time.

I pay them to let me play with them. How is your pond by the way? For the unenlightened hullites I should explain that our huge lurcher decided to cool off in Ged's tiny little garden pond on sunday! Plants and fish everywhere!

Col. Hancock's Lurchers are cool. Proper dogs. I used to have one of Mick Douglas' Smithfield/Norfolk thingies. I think they may be distantly related!! (via the bitch Rust)

How do you stop him eating the goldfish?

Is goldfish coursing legal?

Good luck with your fund raiser. Hope you make a huge profit on the pies.

Thanks for that Fullerton. It's good to know other people keep proper dogs too. Incidentally, the tuesday night session in The Woolpack is now a regular going concern. The Harri Watts band have also been booked to play there on Sunday 30th of October.

                Be there or be square!

Many many thanks to all those who came to the gig last night I have not seen The Lamp so full in quite some time. Some people even travelled all the way from Beverley !!

Including both the obtuse raffle extravaganza takings and percentage of the bar we made a tremendous £340. This will give a grand total of £680 for Meningitis Research Foundation when "matched" by BP Chemicals. Meningitis Research Foundation

Once again a big thank you for attending and your kind generosity.

I'm looking forward to Music 4 Meningitis "2"

Yeah well done it was great, I didn't stay long cos I wasn't feeling too good though.

I don't think much to the Lamp as a live music venue though - there are only a few seats in front of the stage area so if you don't grab one you're doomed to the back room where you can't see bugger all!!!
Plus I could'nt hear the music properly because of too many people bloody gabbing instead of listening! Am I right or am I being grumpy?? (getting old)

I preferred it when it was Jailhouse (now I AM showing my age!) A proper music venue that was. Aah the good old days..

Er, what bad things have I supposed to have said about you??? Thats bullshit, I don't even know you, I think you have me confused with someone else. Why you so stroppy I was only stating an opinion about a venue : I have come across other ones similar layout ie. Jaz bar in town, that you can hardly see the band from most angles. It's a shame when people are up there on stage giving their all, but the sound/venue layout lets them down. I feel for them.

Hey you "Rt Hon Sir jOhn from Hull" you are a unrespectful idiot.
these threades are for talking about any thing, Bad and Good, and like that people can make things better. Not just for people like you and some others kissing each others arsses and praising each other.
If you are a man you would say that to her face,(FiddlerOnTheHoof) doesnt even know you! or are you just trying to show how manly you are by arguing with a woman in the internet!

in some point you are telling her " oh, i let you off then." what do you mean? are you saying that you well have a fist fight with a woman! why dont you try?

it is obvious from you nick "Rt Hon Sir jOhn from Hull" so any body make a name like you, and try to get attention by that, it shows me that you are no body.

any way you may remember me, Im the one who had alot to say to you in this Forum before.

if you say that I or many other cant spell in English? you better check yours. it is good on me, at list i can do what you are reading now, and in many other languages too. if you say to me i dont know any thing about the argument, i know every thing. im every where and know alot about many tossers like you.

Some very good points raised by everyone and I am sure we could debate them for ever more. Indeed I would love to join in, but the debate is probably best left to another time and thread.

If we are not careful we will drift away from the thread title "Music 4 Meningitis" and all the efforts of the people who attended, both audience and musicians who contributed to the evening.

Many thanks

Well said Dafid. The aim of the evening was a great success, enjoyed by all concerned. Whilst the audience were generally quite noisy they still listened and appreciated the efforts on stage and stuck their hands in their pockets as required. I've heard nothing but good comments since. The Lamp's atmosphere is always excellent when it's busy despite the less than perfect layout of the place and we'll always enjoy playing there. Thanks to all who contributed and let's do it again one day.
