9/19/1944: The Jewish Brigade was established. It fought well in Africa and Italy.
La-olel, v'larach, For the helpless and the young,
She-arim po niftach! Wide the gates we fling!
Lamach v'lazaken, For the aged and the lame,
Anu po chomat magen! The shield of victory we bring!
"Shir Ha-Palmach" was written in the Brigade and became a most popular
