We have several threads going this year re the FSGW Getaway (Oct 14-17), so I don't think I need to describe it here, right? If you've never heard of it & want more info, pm me....

The Getaway Committee (Charlie Baum, Carly Gewirz, Nancy King and I) want to be sure no one gets left at an airport or stuck without a place to stay! Most of you are making arrangements just fine via Mudat and we hope that will continue, but would you please help us keep track via this thread. (We know most of it is already documented in other threads, but that's not the same as "keeping track" of the info.)

If you are coming from out of town and don't have your travel arrangements and/or lodging firmed up, would you please post a notice here, with details about where and when you need a ride and/or a place to stay. Thanks!

Skarpi and I arrive off an Icelandair flight on the Thursday about 1800 hours, and will need a bit of TLC overnight, then transportation on the Friday to Ramblewood. I have no plans for after the Getaway, but will need to talk to Skarpi re his going home arrangements.

A place to kip on Monday would be useful if we are doing this Mudcat Concert ! I will have a hire car and will be in the area (with Severn first and then Fortunato) before the Getaway , and will be pleased to help out if I can .

We will arrive Wednesday (12th) evening, rent a car and drive to Rockville MD where we will stay with PaulineL for two nights. All being well, on Thursday evening we should be able to come to the singaround for Micca. Friday we will drive to Ramblewood with PaulineL. We will have our own sleeping bags etc.

However, we are looking for two things:

a) A guitar for me to borrow while at the Getaway (I am not bringing one, I heard too many horror stories about customs stopping you on suspicion of coming to work etc etc).

b) lodgings for Monday and/or Tuesday following the Getaway. We hope to come to the post-Getaway concert, so proximity to that (where is it?) would be good, and we would also like to tour rural Maryland a little (we will have the car until Wednesday following the GW)

Rita, I don't know if I actually mentioned it before but I'm hoping that Stewart and I can borrow some of your stock of bedding for the Getaway, as before.

It was SO cold at night in those cabins last time, I'm going to bring two hot water bottles this time- as well as a large man to keep me warm :0)

Oh...yes..bedding...I will either need to shop for some or borrow some. Bag space is limited...will bring own pillow. Need the rest. Other baggage is 1 fiddle case, one case and one shoulder bag carry on.

I will also pack some extra bedding to lend out. My dog has damaged some of my comfortors so there may be a little bit of stuffing escaping in some cases, but they'll be clean!

As described in other threads, we have ample pre-/post-Getaway lodging available for those coming from the north who need a stopping point to make the journey work. We're in north central PA where 6 and 15 intersect, an hour south of Corning/Elmira NY. Some UKers, USers, and Canadians already plan to stop on their way to and/or from. We are not, however, conveniently located near any affordable airports.

... and people stopping here (before and after) can take bedding from here for selves or for sharing. Pillows, sleeping bags, comforters, afghans, wool blankets, an oil-filled electric heater....

We plan to bring the littlies own sleeping bags but would gladly borrow bedding for Geoff, Maddie and myself to save having to take our own or buy new ones. BTW is a comforter what we would call a duvet?

When we speak of a "comforter," here, one often mean a duvet with poly fiberfill; when people say "duvet" it's more likely to be down-filled (and warmer). I can't speak for him, but if Mmario stops here on the way to Getaway he's welcome to nab all the bedding you'd need. (We can offer a nice warm mummy bag for Maddie, thermal/wool blankets for you and Geoff, and pillows for all.)

I forgot to mention something (this is so embarrassing).

But as Janie and I were talking about what to bring, I was wondering what the heck ever happened to my space heater. She said hadn't I seen that someone found one last year, and maybe it was mine? I hadn't noticed.

It's a radiator-type oil-filled electric heater. Maybe DeLonghi brand.

Anyone remember it, save it, take it home? So, if it hasn't already been tossed, or incorporated into someone's household, maybe I'll see it again?

I have a spare sleeping bag and an assortment of comforters and blankets to lend. Will make a note to throw them in the trunk.

Rides to and from Rockville area may be available; we typically head north around 5pm Friday and make for home just after dinner on Sunday.

"self contained"? does that mean you do, or do not need meals? If you eat & occupy space in a cabin, the camp counts you, and so must we.

Arrangements have been made for elves to bring as much of our bedding as possible. There will be an entire bagfull of Duck bedding plus some other loose stuff. I'm gonna mark our items with safety pins. LOL-- if you have any of our issue, you'll know it and be sure to return it! :~)

Better late than....

I just realized I have a SW Airlines freq flier ticket I need to use by Dec 13, and I'm considering attending this affair. The ticket would get me into Baltimore, possibly Friday night, leaving Sunday night(though I have some flexibility). Any transportation available, or would car rental be the way to go? What places to stay are available at this late date? I would likely have one carry-on bag and a guitar case.
