Subject: Sessions in East Suffolk From: Marion in Cornwall Date: 22 Sep 05 - 03:14 PM Well I made a complete mess of the last thread, having asked for sessions in Sussex by mistake. Many thanks to Alan and Carol for replying. My friends are going to east Suffolk and are keen to get to some sessions there. If anyone can be of help I'd be very grateful. Regards from an occasionally confused Marion |
Subject: RE: Sessions in East Suffolk From: treewind Date: 22 Sep 05 - 03:44 PM Just visiting, or moving permanently? Suffolk is great county for sessions! The Eastbridge Eel's foot is a good start: Every Thursday (suit session, anything goes) and Last Sundays (strictly folk, mostyl tune I think) 01728 723521 The Everyman folk club at Saxmundham, Last Friday, definitely a folk club (floor spots + guests) rather than a session but a good one and you'll meet session experts there. Ask Charlie Haylock, or us (Mary and Anahata) when we're there. Or phone Steve and Mary on 01449 615523. Join Suffolk Folk and get your free subscription to Mardles - you'll never be alone! Anahata |
Subject: RE: Sessions in East Suffolk From: Tattie Bogle Date: 22 Sep 05 - 04:56 PM Well if I still lived in Suffolk, I'd be in there! Spent my childhood from 9-25+ there then a brief interlude in my early 40s, but now too long too far away! TB |

Definitely not your best bib & tucker job. I too have trouble with Suffolk and Sussex - even though I live only a couple of hundred yards from the border. Mary |
Subject: RE: Sessions in East Suffolk From: treewind Date: 22 Sep 05 - 05:47 PM suit session...? Indeed. Must have been my "moral majority" spelling checker taking over. Anahata |
Subject: RE: Sessions in East Suffolk From: Marion in Cornwall Date: 02 Oct 05 - 04:18 PM Thanks to Anahata and Mary for the information. I'll pass it on to my friends who will be 'just visiting' towards the end of the month. They both play the concertina (one English and the other anglo)so a mainly music session would suit them fine. All the best Marion |
Subject: RE: Sessions in East Suffolk From: Grab Date: 02 Oct 05 - 04:48 PM I believe there's something happens at the Magpie in Mendlesham (between Bury St Edmunds and Diss), I think on a Sunday. I've never been though so I don't know what it's like, whether it's a singaround or music session. Graham. |
Subject: RE: Sessions in East Suffolk From: treewind Date: 03 Oct 05 - 02:13 PM October 28th: Mark Dowding and Chris Harvey at the Everyman if your friends are in the area on that date. Let us know their movements - we both play concertinas too, maybe we could meet up! We'll certainly be at the above gig, in fact Mary (an old friend of Mark Dowding) is going to be the MC that night.
