Thank you for previous advice before on here when a friend was buying a AKAI DPS12i 12Track Dig Recorder. We know would like advice on connecting a cd writer to it. Any ideas or things to bear in mind? (we are not technically minded so small words if you can!) It would be good to have a cd writer with it all the time rather than having to use it through a computer. We have seen a cd rom drive item 5113725011 on ebay but not sure about it. It could be wrong thing altogether!

Thank you Mr. Offer.

I can't make the blue clicky maker to work so paste the previous paragraph into your browser .

It will give a list of compatible drives.

Check the DPS 12 forum on Yahoo for operating system issues. This is important. Older DPS12 MAY not work with your CDR.

May I ask why you want to use a CDR - is it for back up or for making CDs?

An easier solution might be to get a SP/DIF convertor - you can connect to digital inputs on good recorders. Including minidisc etc.
They are very cheap and (£30) and will be useful well beyond the life of your dps12!! Mine is.

Have you worked out how to mix and use the scenes yet? Its a huge time saver.

A lot of DPS users use a program called Mesa to take files from a DPS to a computer (via a CDR) but it seems like a pain in the *** to me.

Why not mix your songs, take "scene snaps" of your mix and take the DPS to your nearest recording studio with your SP/DIF convertor. Plug in to the Studio- It will be a very quick job. A whole CD should be Two Hours max. If the studio has optical inputs you won't need the sp/dif box!!

Hope this helps.

Let me know how you get on, and if there's anything else I can help you with, well just ask. I check mudcat about twice a day.

Incidentally the input amps on the DPS12 are great - lovely warm signal.
