Died today aged 76.

A brilliant comedian, actor and writer.

First thing I saw as I switched on this morning.
A brilliant man with a great gift for torturing the English language,
I think my two favourites were both in the 'News Items' at the end of the Two Ronnies,

1) There was a shooting incident in the Midlands last night, the main suspect is a Jewish Flautist, recently playing with a Luton Chamber Orchestra. It is understood that his mother was a Spanish Nun.
Police say the wish to interview a Haifa-Luton, Fluting-shooting, son of a Nun from Barcelona,

2) It has been established in a survey that the four most popular types of programme on television are Sport, Musicals, Sex, Horror films and Travel.
ITV has announced a new series called ' I played ping-pong and had a sing song and a ding dong with King Kong in Hong Kong'

He will be missed, worth far more than four candles!

First thing that I saw on the news today. A very funny man with an individualistic sense of humour, that went well with little Ronnie.

Sleep easy. Blessings and light to all his family and friends

True, alanabit, well put.

My favourite line was Ronnie as Fletcher, in Porridge, working as a trusty in the prison office at HMP Slade. He opened a filing cabinet, and found a cake inside, and opined to the prison governor "It ain't very often you find a cake in a file in prison"

A very sad loss.
Now how shall I cope if i have "Trummle with me worms?"

Ronnie was a master of the language and how to make it funny, I hope we get the Morris Dancing Medley among his rememberances.

A very sad day. I can never resist the endless re-runs of 'Porridge'. even though I might have seen a particular episode a dozen times it will still make me laugh. Strange to think that Richard Beckinsale, Fulton MacKay and now the Guvnor himself are all gone from us now - still, they left us a great legacy.
'Open All Hours' does not have the brilliant scripts of 'Porridge' but is also compulsive watching. I always get a powerful sense of deja vu when I watch it - it is a really remarkable recreation of the corner shops and streets of my childhood. I believe that it was shot in Doncaster, and I grew up in Peterborough, but the sense of having been in that shop and bought a tin of beans or something from Arkwright is overwhelming!
Rest in peace, Mr Barker - you were one of the greats.

Much too young to go as well. He leaves a legacy that won't be easily forgotten.

I thought he was great as Fletcher, to my mind one of his best characters.

Just listening to the news now and agree with the BBC, Ronnie Barker always knew how to be funny without crossing the line so many comedians do. He was saucy, cheeky but incredibly clever and a real family entertainer, an absoute master of comic timing and something TV lacks today. He will be sadly missed.

Yep didnt see the news this morning nearly missed work!

Ronnie Barker ~ Porridge with Richard Beckinsale who died very young, Open all Hours shot around Carr Hill, area Doncaster, typical corner shop and the two Ronnies, brilliant comedy acting part of the fabric of Uk society in much the same way as Morecambe and Wise

Timeless comedy

Ronnie Barker was a national institution god bless him

For those who liked his earlier (Radio) work, BBC7 is still running "The Navy Lark" with Ronnie B as the much put upon* Able Seaman 'Fatso' Johnson.

The loss of Ronnie Barker means yet another of the "Greats" gone and the Earth is a slightly sadder place for his passing.
I sincerely doubt that we will ever see his like again.
