Subject: RE: News about the Sun Inn, Beverley From: GUEST Date: 19 Oct 05 - 04:56 PM Sorry, typo...that should have been 'good'...I think!! Apologies for anyone expecting a divine revelation on the future of this drinking house... |
Subject: RE: News about the Sun Inn, Beverley From: GUEST Date: 19 Oct 05 - 04:53 PM God news about the Sun...I think. |
Subject: RE: News about the Sun Inn, Beverley From: Gedpipes Date: 19 Oct 05 - 04:36 PM Perhaps should be on a wolpack thread.... but for those of you who like a sherbet or two there is a (mini) beer festival on over the weekend. pop in and have one on me Blue skies Ged |
Subject: RE: News about the Sun Inn, Beverley From: Shiplap Structure3 Date: 19 Oct 05 - 03:11 PM Woolpack mini beer festival Wots this & when & hows it mini Is it just halves Phew all these questions |
Subject: RE: News about the Sun Inn, Beverley From: Paco Rabanne Date: 19 Oct 05 - 05:34 AM Did you know that The Simpsons have a record out called 'The Yellow album' |
Subject: RE: News about the Sun Inn, Beverley From: Hand-Pulled Boy Date: 19 Oct 05 - 05:28 AM Actually if I'm still sober after Woolpack's mini-beer festival then I might just stagger along to to to to Hodgeson's sunday session. We can discuss the BNP's new rival to the Beatle's White album. Should be a snort! |
Subject: RE: News about the Sun Inn, Beverley From: Paco Rabanne Date: 19 Oct 05 - 05:21 AM Morning Dereck/Derek/Derrick, The bogey level is decreasing nicely. Are you going to Hodgsons on sunday? Incidentally ET has started another 'The Sun' thread which explains rather succinctly who will be where over the coming weeks. NSP, the new Amoxicillin. |
Subject: RE: News about the Sun Inn, Beverley From: Hand-Pulled Boy Date: 19 Oct 05 - 05:08 AM How's the snot today Ted? There's been some concern about your health just lately. Apparently you've got the shakes and developed white finger? |
Subject: RE: News about the Sun Inn, Beverley From: ossonflags Date: 18 Oct 05 - 12:37 PM Oh dear................ |
Subject: RE: News about the Sun Inn, Beverley From: Hand-Pulled Boy Date: 18 Oct 05 - 08:32 AM Elaine has done battle at the Barham pub and survived. The big screen will only be showing old footage of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young with occassional live baseball games. None of it very exciting stuff and certainly won't detract from the live music nights. Playing pool with violin bows will be a newly introduced tournament and should be quite entertaining. |
Subject: RE: News about the Sun Inn, Beverley From: ossonflags Date: 18 Oct 05 - 07:18 AM "Hodgesons" |
Subject: RE: News about the Sun Inn, Beverley From: Paco Rabanne Date: 18 Oct 05 - 04:11 AM If some miracle happens and I can get out this sunday, where will you all be, Hodgsons? The Sun? Fuel? Amoxicillin, the true antibiotic! |
Subject: RE: News about the Sun Inn, Beverley From: ossonflags Date: 18 Oct 05 - 12:11 AM For "scren" read screen |
Subject: RE: News about the Sun Inn, Beverley From: ossonflags Date: 17 Oct 05 - 11:57 PM Don't know nowt about the pool table or big scren telly. What I do know is that Elaine is keen to have live musicians and singers back in the "Sun" and has booked "Punch The Horse" to play on Saturday 26th November. Incidently - or perhaps more importantly - the gig is Jill Fishers start of her 24hour fiddle playing marathon. More details to follow. |
Subject: RE: News about the Sun Inn, Beverley From: GUEST Date: 17 Oct 05 - 06:27 PM People like playing pool I don't see the problem but maybe not to be playing all the time. I have wanted to play pool sometimes when they are playing live music but what the heck. Folkies are sometimes quiet nice to listen too but not all the time. The Sun is not the only pub in Beverley that has live music so I can go elsewhere for live music. Elaine – now that seems to ring a bell possibly the famous battle ship from during the war "Barham" |
Subject: RE: News about the Sun Inn, Beverley From: Sir Roger de Beverley Date: 17 Oct 05 - 03:38 PM The pool table was installed by the previous landlord - to much consternation amongst the regular clientelle. A big screen would finish it for me - I hope that it was a wind-up from hand -pulled boy. R |
Subject: RE: News about the Sun Inn, Beverley From: Paco Rabanne Date: 17 Oct 05 - 10:53 AM Just what i thought Les. |
Subject: RE: News about the Sun Inn, Beverley From: Les from Hull Date: 17 Oct 05 - 10:49 AM Oh a pool table and a big screen - that'll help! |
Subject: RE: News about the Sun Inn, Beverley From: Hand-Pulled Boy Date: 17 Oct 05 - 06:16 AM To whom it may concern in folk land. The Sun opened on Friday. I had a pint and a chat with the new landlady Elaine on saturday and she is very keen to have live music in the pub. She will welcome back the sunday and tuesday sessions. All you have to do is turn up as usual. She also wants to attract regular custom and has installed a pool table, is probably going to install a big screen and enjoys a sing-song herself which probably means Kari-hoky (that word!). Also the quality of the beer should improve with time. At least I hope so. So there you are. |

Next Tuesday is also in Oddfellows although there was some tale circulating that the new Licensee of the Sun starts tonight (Wednesday). Sean, the ex Landlord of the Sun, was in Oddfellows as usual. |
Subject: RE: News about the Sun Inn, Beverley From: Hand-Pulled Boy Date: 11 Oct 05 - 07:49 PM Last time the Sun was rudderless it was strongly rumoured to become an old person's nursing home. So most of you will still be able to attend! |

Subject: RE: News about the Sun Inn, Beverley From: GUEST,Raggytash Date: 11 Oct 05 - 07:23 AM Aha ......... the Latin quarter, so you approve of ghettoes, were you can place your downtrodden incomers eh. Racially segregated areas is it, no doubt you also approve of the greedy landlords who charge over inflated rents for squalid housing for the poor reprobates who are forced, because of your lack of a integrated settlement policy, to live there. No wonder god chose the Lancastrian side to favour. A land of bread and honey with pots of jasper and spittoons of jade |

Subject: RE: News about the Sun Inn, Beverley From: ossonflags Date: 11 Oct 05 - 05:55 AM Enough of this Royalist buffoonery already.I'm suprised at yer Raggy. We was never much good at listening to what the King had to say in 'ull, remember Charles the First? However, the City and County of Kingston upon Hull - as we are correctly called - recieved its charter from Edward the Third on 1st April 1299 In 1440, the former borough acquired the status of a city becoming a county corporate administratively separate from Yorkshire and having jurisdiction over an area extending west of the city known as Hullshire - incidently part of which is the latin quarter were me and El Teddo are in residence. I believe that firmly nails me colours to the mast? |
Subject: RE: News about the Sun Inn, Beverley From: GUEST,Raggytash Date: 11 Oct 05 - 04:42 AM Michael .... it really is quite simple ...... even a Yorkshireman should be able to grasp this concept. Ever since Henry V111 the monarch has been the head of the Church of England and as such is God's representative in our sacred isle. Ever since Henry 1V the ruling monarch (God's representative you recall) has also carried the title of the Duke of Lancaster, thus the Duke of Lancaster ipso facto is God's representative on the fair land of ours. Thus Lancashire MUST be God's county See quite easy |
