is anybody here as old as knowing a song which had in his refrain the words :"and sympathy is what we need my friends/and simpathy,is what we need/and simpathy is what we need my friends/'cause it's not enough love to go round" ; this song was very in fashion in '69 or '70

All I can tell you is that it was a semi/hit for a band called Rare Bird (early 1970). I do vaguely remember it, but unfortunately not the words.
