Subject: Pre-Getaway Listenin': Mudcat CDs From: Ebbie Date: 08 Oct 05 - 04:16 PM Just to refresh my memory and ear buds of voices and personas before the Getawy I've been listening again to the Mudcat CDs that were issued a couple of years ago. And like before, I'm blown away. There are such lovely voices and songs and tunes on each of them. I love them. I hate even to mention favorites among them but off the top of my head there are some that leap out at me: Justa Picker's picking. Justa, you are fantastic. I wish you were coming to the Getaway. Sandy Paton, I love the way you do 'When You and I Were Young'. Toward the end of his life, it was my brother's favo(u)rit ite song so listening to it sung so beautifully is a poignant thing to me. Rick Fielding, for his vibrant voice and vital energy. Damn. I wish I had met him. I'd better stop, or I'll have to mention every one of you! You done good. Folks, if you don't have this set of five in your collection, you're missing out. |

Subject: RE: Pre-Getaway Listenin': Mudcat CDs From: GUEST,Bobert Date: 08 Oct 05 - 08:14 PM Please skip over my contribution... I was still enamered by this joint at that point in time so I piocked out a 20 year old recording from my "Puff the Magic Dragon" years... It sucked but, hey.... Bobert |
Subject: RE: Pre-Getaway Listenin': Mudcat CDs From: Ebbie Date: 08 Oct 05 - 09:23 PM Not to fear, Beaubear. It is not as clear a recording as it could be but we know where to go for the source. :) (Whatta you mean- you're not still enamored by this joint?? I am.) |
Subject: RE: Pre-Getaway Listenin': Mudcat CDs From: katlaughing Date: 08 Oct 05 - 09:26 PM They are NOT to be missed. When I really miss "Giac" (Mary Giaccomini) I can always listen to her beautiful, sweet voice and her lovely song. I love all of the CDs!! |
Subject: RE: Pre-Getaway Listenin': Mudcat CDs From: Ebbie Date: 08 Oct 05 - 10:15 PM I know, kat. I love Giac's voice - and spirit - on Jesus in the Clouds. It captures so honestly and compassionately and acceptingly a period of life I wish she herself could have reached. We've lost a lot of people in these years. 'Tis a mystery, indeed. |
