From: GUEST,Bobert

Well, well, well...

I've done my work and so it's now up to my guy in Missiissippi to do his and maybe come the first of the year there's gonna be a nice debut "Sidewalk Bob" CD ready to to go to CD Baby fir distribution...

Thought I re3corded some 33 songs in Mississippi it looks like that first Sidewalk Bob CD will feature the followin:

1. Son House's "Preachin Blues" with me playin' my 1935 Dobro Tenor resonator...

2. Bob Dylan's "She Belongs to Me" from his first album... Some fine blues...

3. Robert Johnson's "Walkin' Blues"... This was the first blues ong I ever learnt up so I had to put it on the CD...

4. A Bobert orginal "Goin' Home" from a long, long time ago...

5. "Copperhead Road" by my main man, Steve Earle... But very bluesified...

6. Blind Lemon Jefferson's "Keep My Grave Kept Clean" in Double dropped D tunin'...

7. "Rollin' & Tumblin'" by Muddy Wasters, etal...

8. Mississippi Fred McDowell's "61 Highway" in D tunin' on the meatl rso...

9. "Where Were You", a song I wrote the first time I ever attended Blues Week in Elkins, WV...

10. The surprise cut on the CD is gonna be Waylon Jenning's "Waymore Blues" which has lines from somer old blues songs... This on egets way out there...

11. Back to SDteve Earle and the song that Emmi Lou Harris has said is the best song that has ever been written, "Devil's Right Hand", done all Bobertfied...

12. Bobert's "Buttermilk Blues"...

13. Howlin' Wolf's "Little Red Rooster"

14. Oh, bad, bad Bobert!!! Yeah, a very bluesified version of "Season of the Witch"...

15. Bsck to my hero, Son House, a strummed version of "Empire Sate Express"...

16. Okay, back to Robert Johnson with a rowdy version of "Crossroads Blues" in open D tunin' on the metal reso... Never done it this way but...

and 17. back to the master, Son House, with "Death Letter Blues" which took 3 (three) takes!?!?!?... But the 3rdtime was the charm...

The rest went down on the first take...

I'm happy with what I did and am lookin' forward to seein' waht comes from the work that Iz done...

Bobert

Hey bobert — Congrats on the CD, but you might want to check your attribution on a couple of the songs. Muddy Waters did "Rollin' and Tumblin'", but it was written by Hambone Willie Newburn and "Little Red Rooster" was written by Willie Dixon, not Howlin' Wolf. Don't know about a lot of the others...

cheers,

david

2. Bob Dylan's "She Belongs to Me" from his first album... Some fine blues...

"She Belongs to Me" is from "Bringing It All Back Home," Dylan's fifth album.

Yeah, Judge, yer right... Well, maybe right... Someone else on another site says it was off his 3rd with "Bob Dylan" and
"Freewheelin"... But thanks, I'll do more homework before gettin' the notes together...

Bobert,

Dylan's first album was "Bob Dylan," released on March 19, 1962.

His second was "The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan," released on May 27, 1963.

His third was "The Times They Are A-Changin'," released on February 10, 1964.

His fourth was "Another Side of Bob Dylan," released on August 8, 1964.

His fifth was "Bringing It All Back Home," released on March 22, 1965. That's the album that "She Belongs to Me" was on.

Trust me, I know what I'm talking about.

P.S. The Blind Lemon Jefferson song that you refer to as "Keep My Grave Kept Clean," is actually called "See That My Grave is Kept Clean."

Hey, anyone named Judge is prolly a very trustworthy type person.... Except unless yer Judge Clarence Thomas... He ain't but, hey, that ain't got nuthin' to do with Bob Dylan....

The weird thing about this is that I know own most of Dylans LP's and never got it figurated in my figurator the sequence... All, I know is that it was like I was in military school and one of the other cadets who was into folkl music invited me to his room to hear "Bringin' It All Back Home" and I had been purdy much a derummer up to that day and I heard this LP and figured that it was 'bout time to spend more time with the guitar...

But thanks fir the cronology... I'll have to go back to that *other* website an' strut *yer* stuff...

Thanks...

Bobert

Well, ain't like I was *down" in Mississippi, O-Mike... All m recordin' was done up in Thaxton, which is 'bout 10 miles east of Oxford (Ol' Miss...) and 'bout 40 miles west of Tupelo...

Weren't no damage up there to speak of but I did fly into Memphis on the 30th, one day after Katrina and was stayin' at a friends house... He books a lot of musicans an' I went to sleep on his couich 'round 10:00 and woke up to a house full of kids, dogs, guitars and musicans that had come up from N.O.'s.....

Hey, the joint was wall to wall musicans.... I just gather my stuff 'round daylight and go myself down to Mississippi...

...but thanks much to Dennis "Mempho" Brooks fir his couch....

Actually Bobert I prefer the sound of a solo musician singin' and playing the guitar.

Well, it may come down to that, sIx, seein' as my buddy is havin' trouble gettin' folks to do what they say they are gonna do...

That's all I have now is the 33 songs I recorded with various guitars, mostrly resonators... They aren't mixed or mastered but the levels are about right...

'Bout half o' them definately need a harmonica but then again maybe I've been spoiled over the years with havin' had Vince "Harp Boy" Farrabaugh performin' wid me but he's up here, just had a baby, etc. and it just ain't gonna work.... Sniff... I miss playin'music with that boy...

It's a bit late that I see (and contribute to) this thread. I only know his singing from the Mudcat 'Colours/Fruits' CDs. Bobert has an absolutely beautiful voice. He was one of the very big positive surprises for me on the Mudcat CDs.
