Christy has a new CD out. Here is a link to a review on the Belfast Telegraph site about a Dylan song he covers.

I'm surprised, but very pleased, that he's finally done another Dylan song. It doesn't seem so long ago since he was speaking of "Song to Woody" as "the only Dylan song in my repertoire". The times they are a changing.

Wow just one response from Big Tim to this thread before it fell off the page. Maybe I should start a thread about arses or flatulence. Anyway here's the track listing for anyone who cares.

2 Motherland
3 Butterfly (So Much Wine)
4 Magic Nights In The Lobby Bar
5 America I Love You
6 Mercy
7 Beeswing
8 Lonesome Death Of Hattie Carroll
9 Magdalene Laundries
10 Burning Times
11 Peace In The Valley Once Again
12 Changes

What a wonderful month of recognition for Charlie Murphy, the writer of the song "Burning Times"!

Christy Moore makes his song the title track of a CD, while the Ashoka Fellows (ashoka.org) have chosen to honor him at an event in November for his social-action work.

Must be living right...

Looking forward to seeing him live in Hamburg on 25 Oct. He'll have the CD with him, I suppose, so thanks for the pointer!

"What a wonderful month of recognition for Charlie Murphy, the writer of the song "Burning Times"!"

Shame the song is utter nonsense historically.

I presume 'Beeswing' is the Richard Thompson song?

Okay, I will bite... why is the song "historical nonsense"?

Has anyone heard this yet? I just got it today, I'm listening to it right now. It is pretty remarkable how he covers other writers songs. This is very good.
I moved this message here from another thread on the same topic.

Changes was written by the one and only Phil Ochs.

This is the title song of a CD of mine recorded in 2003. A sample can be heard on my homepage:

www.john-barden.de

on the MP3 sampes page.

There is a recording of Christy singing it on the box set but not all the lyrics are included. I believe my recording includes all the verses.

I first heard the song sung by Gordon Ligtfoot on one of his very early records ("Early Lightfoot" I think)from the early 70"s.

Looking forward to hearing Christy's studio version.

JB
