Southern New Jersey - just across the river from Philadelphia. Thanks for reviving this thread. It's been fun reading where everyone lives. I've been to so many of the UK towns mentioned - lovely memories. And with any luck I'll be back there in 2001 for a few weeks.

Not where I was born, and not where I was reared, but I've been in Amarillo for the last lotsa years. To my knowledge, there's only one town by that name in the world, so state and country should be unnecessary, eh? Sometimes a highly amusing place, sometimes highly weird. Have to travel miles and hours to get to my music, usually. But then, I'm only 45 minutes from Pampa...and it can be nice living in a place where ONE murder is front-page news. (No, I didn't have anything to do with suing Oprah.)

Right now, I live in Luoyang, Henan Province, China, home of nine dynasties, the birthplace of Bhuddism in CHina, and the home of the Kao Lin Temple, the birthplace of Kung Fu. Crowded, dirty, smelly, polluted; seriously a great place to live. In the U.S., I live in Tumwater, Washington, but I sold my house while I was here, so now I'm not exactly sure what to call my address in the U.S.

A city of 800,000, plunked down on the edge of the prairies, an hour's drive from the Rocky Mountains. Cattle ranching country to the west, wheat & canola farms to the east. Been here since 1974, and married into it. Grew up in Southern Ontario (Inglewood, near Orangeville), lived in Toronto in the '60s, spent most summers, and six years of residence, in Muskoka/Parry Sound (Kearney, my ancestral home, and Huntsville), before heading to the West.

Basically living in transit between Jackson and Tupelo, Mississippi; howbeit, "home' shall ever be Carroll County, Mississippi. Home of dust; gravel, and Mississippi John; where the evil vine Kudzu proclaimed himself king and has proven it with a vengeance. I have seen forests, cars, barns and houses consumed by the plague. Alas, poor old Harry Lee Wigglesworth, who, given to much drink, and passing out on the side of the road, was absorbed and assimilated by the vine. A sad situation, indeed.

I was born near the lake at McAlister, Okla. At the age of eight, came to Calif. looking like "The Grapes of Wrath". Grew up in Watsonville, Ca. Spent two years in Yokasuka, Japan, with the U.S.Navy. Now live in Salinas, Ca.,the hometown of John Steinbeck. I'm 10 min. from the beautiful Monterey Bay. 100 miles so. of San Francisco. Not many "folkies" around here that I know of. I did notice one named Rita from A 1999 post that is from Salinas. If you are still around Rita, would like to get in touch if you like. Anyone visiting the west coast, look me up. Love the MudCat. Just recently discovered Mudcatville and immediately moved in... Just moved from Keene, NH to Portland, OR. 2 years ago, moved from Eugene, OR to Keene, NH. Lived all around Oregon in the 90s, 80s. Moved from NYC to OR in early 80s. Moved from Toledo, OH to NYC in late 70s. Moved from Boston, Ma to Toledo, OH in late 70s. Moved from Columbia, MO to Boston, MA in early 70s.
