I had this vision of web sites that allowed you to track wild geese during their migration flights... sigh!

You will note from my first posting that I had included the word 'albums' in the thread title but it failed to make it to the main page. However, thanks for keeping the thread on foot. You never know - someone with some pertinent info may come along.

Cheers, Stewie.

do you mean liam and that lot who live in clermont ferrand? that would be weird. the last time i was at his house he said "i've no wine, will whiskey do?) it was only about 10am and i have to say that whiskey did very well. if it's not those wild geese, then ignore me...

Bill, thank you very much. I greatly appreciate your taking the trouble to post the track lists. I wasn't aware of the first album. Thank you also for indicating the musicians involved. I knew Norman King for a time in the 70s. He was here in Darwin, Oz, during our big one - Cyclone Tracy on Christmas eve '74. As I recall, he survived the blow pissed in a wardrobe.

Thanks again, Stewie.

it's the first time i found something when entering
"the quays of galway town".
it's one of my favorite songs, but i don't get the words,
no matter, how often i'd been lsitening.
maybe, it's because i'm not english.
can anybody give me a hand.

thanks anyhow

Hi Bill and Stewie,Mick Ryan was one of my best "Buddies." I played and drank with him many times while he lived over here in Holland, these last 20 odd years.Really loved the man.. but alas the "Lemonade." got to him eventaually and his playin' suffered for it..He died in his bed 2 years or so back. He's fondly remembered by many many people..Lets raise a glass to "Mick the Fiddler."
As Aye,
Phil Jackson

Could someone please list the lyrics for the track from In Full Flight > i'll remember you this way? Manus Lunny wrote it, think I remember most of them but not the last verse.

Thanks very much in advance.

Regard,

Mike

Hi Mike - It was written by Mick Fitzgerald, but the lyrics are not listed on the sleeve. I'll try to get them for you in the next day or so, but it's a busy time of year !!

A few words I'm not 100% sure about, Mike - I'll put them in brackets, but here's what I'm hearing :

"There were no goodbyes, goodbyes were for strangers,
You turn and you go, don't look over your shoulder,
Still Dublin was easy, [ though it rained all ] the morning,
I was caught between streets , in a grey pencil drawing,
And I can't find a love song , and I don't want to try,
But the break in the clouds was like the light in your eye,
And you woke up in the morning, and I'll remember you that way"

"It was coming on Christmas, there was [ truth in the song ],
My pockets still empty, another year gone,
Still I think I was smiling, though I sure don't know why,
I was running on empty, I'll be there by and by,
So I gazed at the windows like some people do,
But I didn't see nothing, I was thinking of you,
When you woke up in the morning, and I'll remember you that way".

"I was getting much warmer, I'd been walking a while,
The day it was clearing, and the clouds left the sky,
Took a whole lot of drinking to say it's a lie,
Chase the blues away".

"And the whole world passed me, [ traffic gone wild ],
People going nowhere, running on blind,
And just one night with someone, one yesterday,
And nothing to stop me from feeling this way,
And I can't find a love song, and I don't want to try,
The break in the clouds was like the light in your eye,
And you woke up in the morning, and I'll remember you that way"

Happy New Year !!!

The first Wild Geese Album recorded in Germany featured the amazin Steve Power on fiddle and almost anything else with strings. He was a close friend and then he just disappeared . Does anyone out there know what happened to him or where he may be. Thank you .
