Im wondering does anyone know if it is possible to get the lyrics for parodies performed by the great Irish panto star Cecil Sheridan?

I heard one on a live Maureen Potter show which was a parody of "Let The Rest Of The World Go By".

The lyrics are as follows:

When Duffy's Circus came to town
And we went there one night
There was acrobats there was elephants
But the clowns was our delight

When the tattooed lady came on stage
And her cloak was on fire
She was tattooed from head to toe
With pictures of the world

Now right around her neck was a scene from Old Quebec
Her chest as I recall was the hills of Donegal
And down her spine was Palestine
With the Suez Canal not far behind
Singapore was round her waist
I could see her naval base
And I got a glimpse of Irelands Eye
And then the wife said come on Joe
And away I had to go
And let the rest of the world go by!

It's similar to another parody of the song but with an irish touch.
If anyone has any other parodies of his they would be much appreciated!

No it has been out of print for forty years or so. I will need time to find my copy, I live in organised chaos.

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to get the lyrics of one of Cecil Sheridan's parodies called "Burlington Gertie"? I heard the great Anna Managhan feature it many years ago in her one-woman show and the memory has stayed with me.

My late dad, Noel Purcell was honoured with a Late Late Show at Xmas '73. Cecil Sheridan, Eddie Byrne and Pauline Forbes were guests, with Sean Mooney coming out of the audience to sing with Peggy Dell at the piano.

Cecil did a great parody of 'My Way" . It started off with his usual intro as the henpecked husband:

(Oh, the woman I have married
She is driving me insane........)

Well I got home in friday night,
Collapsed upon the floor,
while the wife was playing Bingo
with the man who lived next door.
The doctor came, examined me
and this is what he said
It's a case of Malnutrition
Pretty soon you will be Dead........

And now, the end is near
She's pulled the blinds and drawn the curtains
she said, its very clear,
your liver's shot, gone for a burton.
Your policy is all paid up,
and when the man comes 'round next Friday,
I'll tell him Syd, a right few Quid is coming
MY WAY!

I know, I have to go,
cos round the bed she's lit the candles.
Bought my last overcoat
Its polished Oak with 6 brass handles.
Although I'm skin and bone,
and seven stone is all that I weigh,
Still it hurts, one more clean shirt, and I'm on
MY WAY

For what is a man,
what have I got
a broken nose, black eyes the lot,
but in my dreams, at Heaven's Gate,
I hear St. Peter say 'dont wait,
the record shows, you took the blows,
come on up MYYYYY WAYYYYY.

Hope you like it.

My Mam is Cecil's daughter Ann.

Here's a few lines from It had to be you...

Now fourteen years of married life has made a mess of me
No matter what I try to do it ends in misery
Now when I climb up the bedroom stairs before I kneel to pray
I take out my wife's photograph and look at and say

It had to be you
It had to be you
I must have been sunk, elephants drunk
When I married you
I'm black and I'm blue from things I've been through
My shirts up the spout, can't get it out all over you

Last week out in Bray with Mrs McCay
You got into a boat but it wouldn't float
It sank in the blue
Someone cried they're both drowned
It gave me a thrill til somebody said one's breathing still
And it had to be you, wonderful you, it had to be you.

I was wondering would anyone have the words of the Parody of "Reviewing the Situation" that he did with my friend Rebecca Wilkinson in the Eblana.
