Spill it, Ed! What's in the works? Where can y'all be heard, live? How long has Liscune been together? Tell us about the group's members. Where'd you get your material?

�How long has Liscune been together?�

Colleen, Ray, and I have been playing together in different sessions for about three years now. Ray (mandolin) was the first person I met when I re-entered the music scene after a thirty odd year hiatus. I went to a pub in Northern New Jersey to give a listen in on a session that Linda Hickman and Julee Glaub hosted there. I was playing the bodhr�n for only about three months and hadn�t yet picked the guitar back up. Ray was very welcoming and invited me to join him at the session he ran the next night. I did and actually brought my drum with me to play. It was a blast and he suggested that I come back to the original session with my drum. I did that as well and there I met Colleen (fiddle). We continue to play at this session.

Last year around this time Colleen joined Ray and I hosting another session. After about five months of our hosting the session each week we decided to try to work out some arrangements and the rest as they say is history (well perhaps current events, anyway).

Where can y'all be heard, live?

Currently we play the second Sunday of each month at The Porter House Restaurant and Cigar Bar in Montvale, NJ. As we have just put this demo together we are in the process of trying to increase our gig schedule. We still can be found at a few sessions around. If you go to Liscune.com you will see our temporary web site. The messages can be read without joining the list. I will keep that up to date as we schedule gigs. Eventually we will have a real website with a calendar and all.

What's in the works?

Nothing formal really, just playing, drinking whiskey, and having a good time.

Where'd you get your material?

Mostly it is traditional Irish music although as you are aware we do play some contemporary compositions, i.e, Cat�s Meow, Back Home in Derry, and we do play some American stuff as well.

And who is Natalie?

Just the sweetest little girl you�d ever want to meet. Natalie joined this world at a severe disadvantage. She decided to join us three months early. I was introduced to Natalie through Colleen, her nanny (really Colleen is more than a nanny to this lovely little girl, I would say she is more like a big sister to her). One night we went to Natalie�s family�s home to rehearse. Natalie was about five or six months old at the time. When I walked into the house Colleen was holding her and when our eyes met this huge smile came to her face. It was then apparent to me that this little girl was indeed here with great purpose. I wrote Natalie�s Waltz to celebrate her first birthday, indeed a milestone.

Ed's a nice fellow, too, and his dear lady Donna-Marie is a peach. They were in our area earlier this month. I feel a mid-winter road-trip coming on.....
