Wow! Partway through reading the above posts I was almost convinced that I was reading about someone else!! Thanks Breezy & Cllr for your kind words, you have me blushing.... *cheque's in the post guys*

Seriously though, if it weren't for 'friends like these' I wouldn't be able to stand up (or sit down) and sing at all. So, thanks guys, you know who you are....

Hi there Harmony Angel, you've come in 'off the side' have you? Welcome to the Cat! CD's received today thanks, but it'll be a while before I can start having a play with them. Will have a listen as soon as I can though & see if there's anything any decent on them.

And now for Bedd'uth!!

I have to agree with Breezy (dagnabit) MGAS has an exceptional "voice" and a fantastic range of songs to go with it. I have my favourites but it is always difficult to request in case you miss out on something new. In over twelve years of booking acts in three different clubs I have not often booked purely unacompanied solo artists before but I would not hesitate to book her again or recommend her to other organisers Cllr

I would hope the high spots are yet to come if she can be given the right stage

She had performed 3 times at the Spotlight building up to this full gig.

cllr gave her a chance during the brief ampthill period and she justified his belief

this girl can sing and put a highly entertaining programme together, so come on you 'clubs' here is a mudcatter that can perform.

As Mr Breeze has intimated, work on Richard's (sorry, don't know many Mudcat names) recording is under way but please don't hold your breath. MGAS.... a copy of the raw data on CD is in the post as I write.

Just got back to work (not on-line at home)and must add my thanks for a great evening Hils.

Lovely to see so many Catters especially on such a cold night. The walk up Holywell Hill from where the car was (eventually) parked was bracing to put it mildly.

Great singing from all. Looking forward to the CD that John's working on.

Well, what a fantastic evening, thanks to all who came along and for all your kind words. Huge thanks to Breezy for giving me the opportunity and also to Singing Ref for being a superb MC and giving me such a good build-up!

Coming back to my home club brought back lots of memories and I wish I'd had a chance to chat with old friends, but I must admit, I was trying to concentrate so as not to let the side down. It was lovely to see Moses perform on her own turf, ably accompanied by combinations of Singing Ref, Breezy & Fleggy on a variety of her songs. Good to hear Lanfranc too & was delighted to have Micca, catsPHiddle & Lady Lanfranc at the club too! El Greko and La Inglesa were missed, but we managed to fill the gap I think!

As Breezy says, I have progressed to standing up & singing for some songs, not all though! (give it another couple of years before I lose the nervous 'leg-wobble' altogether)

Strangely enough, that special raffle prize I managed to donate after threatening to for all these years, didn't materialise in the end. But Breezy's regulars are quite used to the raffle I think *grin*

Brackenrigg's extended spot took us by storm & were an absolute pleasure to listen to! Good to meet another MudCatter, Spot, but didn't find out if Bruce was a Catter too.....

As to what happened, in case those who weren't there are interested, the songs I sang were as follows:

Young Banker - Trad
After the Goldrush - Neil Young
Searching for Lambs - Trad
The Dutchman - Michael Smith (ably accompanied by Breezy)
Withered & Died - Richard Thompson (with Breezy on guitar)
Dead Knight Behind the Hedge - Jon Heslop
Irish Ways & Irish Laws - John Gibbs
The Journey - Mick Ryan
***************
A Hill so High - Chris Flegg (requested by the Author, Fleggy, who also thankfully prompted the first words of one verse)
Sisters of Mercy - Leonard Cohen
Mary Mack - from the singing of Jake Mitchell of Peterhead
The Last of the Great Whales - Andy Barnes
The Ranter - Trad (as far as I know)
The Weaver's Four Daughters - Spurlock (anyone know the first name?)
When the Green Man Walks the Forest - Graeme Miles
Caledonia - Dougie MacLean (expertly accompanied by Breezy)
The Rain is Falling - George Papavgeris, our own El Greko (accompanied & with a very special introduction by Breezy)

A total of 17 songs which left me a little hoarse I must confess! Loved every minute of it though.... Thanks All!!

This girl is worthy of greater recognotion, now that she can stand up and sing.

if any catters catch her sitting , tell to stand.

She has more than average talent

Brakenrigg are a very acoomplished and audience friendly duo stee

We got there late, but had a superb evening (except for problems with cold guitar strings and the odd senior moment on my part) Hil, as has already been said, was bril! Even Breezy couldn't upstage her, though he strove mightily to do so.

The passing midlanders were pretty good, too.

Alan

The head-cold hasn't materialised yet, but is waiting in the wings, so am hoping to be able to sing some good songs. However, the drain from the bath is frozen so it is definitely a cold morning....

See you there, thanks to all for kind words. Really looking forward to tonight!

Practise? No chance, hectic at the moment.

Did try a new song at Byfleet club last night & I think I'll risk it at St Albans next week. It's got a Fab chorus & I just know that the Windward Chorus-singers will give it some wellie *grin*

Come to think of it, at the moment the list of songs is 2/3 choruses. Hmmm... wonder if I should put some of the ballads back in? *only joking*
