Last night at the Roy Bailey, Martin Carthy and John Kirkpatrick concert at the Purcell Rooms

as the encore they sang

'Friends Like These', a song written by our El Greko

I'm moved - 2 treble whiskey's worth, and a few tears too. That Martin and Roy and John should sing my song as an encore, and at such a venue (one short of the Albert Hall, in anyone's book), is a hell of a humbling experience for this fat Greek.

I am sure I can depend on Breezy to help me "keep it real" - I have been warned to wear an old shirt tomorrow at the club, due to the likely egg-throwing that might occur...

These songs are destined to become part of the backbone of the modern folk singer's set. I have not heard a new writer of this quality for many years.
