Subject: RE: Bed and Breakfast with music! From: George Papavgeris Date: 10 Nov 05 - 08:29 AM Martyn Wyndham-Read's workshops in Northern France beat them all hands down. Their farmhouse (La Jeusseliniere) is near the border of Normandy and Britany. Every summer they run week-long workshops (max 10 participants) with tutors such as Harvey Andrews, Eric Bogle, Vin Garbutt, Mike Silver, Martyn himself with Iris Bishop, Whaley/Fletcher, Kerr/Fagan. Non-musician partners can take advantage of Dani Wyndham-Read's art studio to learn a number of techniques, or just bask in the French sunshine reading a book with a glass of wine. Wonderfull times, great friendships. They have been running these for 4 years now, and 3 weeks ago there was a reunion of participants in Harvey Andrews' village in Shropshire - a wonderful weekend culminating in one of the best lineups for the Saturday 3-hour concert: The 150-plus audiences were treated to Stan Graham, Vicki Swan & Jonny Dyer, Harvey Andrews, Martyn Wyndham-Read, Mike Silver, Vin Garbutt (and a couple of songs from yours truly as a "student representative"). People flock to the "La Jeuss" workshops from all over - we have had people from the US and I believe also Canada, from Germany and of course from the UK. Now THAT's worth having! |
