Happy Birthday!

11/9/1841:

birth of
Edward VII (1901-1910)
(d. May 6, 1910)

When I was young I used to be,
As fine a man as ever you'd see,
The Prince of Wales, he said to me,
"Come and join the British army."

                Turalura-lura-loo,
They're looking for monkeys up in the zoo,
And if I had a face like you,
                I'd join the British army.

"Join the British Army," per Ewan MacColl on Bless 'Em All (British Army
Songs), Riverside, who says this is a Victorian era song, with additional
verses from Brenden Behan. Also, of course, sung by the Dubliners & others.

ALSO:
2005: 11/9 to 11/14: A festival in Edinburgh to celebrate Great Hamish. I understand he has been busted at Sandy Bell's. Seems fitting.   (See "Carrying Stream Festival" and 11/11)

Mary Travers was born 11/9/1936
